In 1852, a Polish man named Romeike began selling the reviews he had cut from newspapers in London’s West End, giving birth to an eponymous company – and the press clippings industry in the process. In 1892, the advertising department of Svenska Telegrambyrån started offering similar services in Sweden. These two companies would come together, as over the years, the Swedish company expanded throughout Europe and North America, adding media contact database and media analysis services to the product offering.
This global company, operating throughout the world under a number of different names such as Observer, Waymaker, Bacon’s and Bowdens, rebranded as Cision in 2007. Today, Cision is the market leader in PR software and media tools with operations in Europe, North America and Asia, and partners in an additional 125 countries.
