• Penny Smith is joining Paul Ross to co-present The Breakfast Show on BBC London 94.9FM. Penny, who was previously a presenter on GMTV, will replace Gaby Roslin on 2 January 2013.

• Claire Irvin has been appointed editor-in-chief across Bauer Media’s parenting portfolio. Claire previously worked at Hearst UK where she was editor of SHE Magazine.

• Richard Young has been appointed editor at Hertfordshire Life. Richard replaces Clare Bourke who has left after five-and-a-half years in the role.

• Tim Pollard has been appointed head of MSN Cars. Tim is currently associate editor of CAR magazine and will start his new role on 21 January 2013.

• The All About Hair blog covers beauty, style, travel and wine. The blog has an archive dating back to March 2011 and can be found on Twitter @UKAllAboutHair.

• James Harding has resigned as editor of The Times. In a resignation speech to his staff, James said it had become clear to him that News Corporation wanted to appoint a new editor. He had been playing a key part in the press industry’s attempt to implement Leveson’s recommendations.

• Steve Hawkes has been appointed consumer affairs editor at The Daily Telegraph. Steve is leaving his role of business editor at The Sun.

• Dana Gloger is leaving her role as consumer affairs editor at the Mail on Sunday on 29 December. She will join Portland Communications in the New Year. A replacement is yet to be announced.

• Garry McGurk is leaving his role as sports editor at the Daventry Express. The move comes after the decision to merge the sports editor roles on the Northampton Chronicle and Echo and the Daventry Express.

Bureau

• Christopher Hird has been appointed managing editor of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

• The Stumbling and Mumbling blog covers the economy, UK politics and UK news. The blog has an archive dating back to March 2009, shares an extensive blog roll and its author Chris Dillow can be found on Twitter @CJFDillow.

• Bdaily has been acquired by technology group Ground Six Limited. Its new address is Bdaily Ltd, Spaceworks, Benton Park Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE7 7LX. Editor Tom Keighley’s phone number is now 0191 223 6791.

• Adam Swales been appointed manager of Practical Farm Ideas at MIDO Publications. The title is still edited by Mike Donovan.

• Intent Media has been acquired by NewBay Media. Intent’s brands include Pro Sound News Europe, Installation and ToyNews among many others.
