Avril Mair has been appointed fashion features director at Harper’s Bazaar. Avril is a former associate editor for ELLE magazine and has previously worked as a consultant at Chanel (avril.mair@hearst.co.uk).

VICE has acquired i-D magazine. According to VICE president Andrew Creighton, i-D magazine is one of the only fashion publications in the world they actually respect.

The CarBidOff blog covers car-buying tips, motoring news and advice. The blog has an archive dating back to November 2011 and can be found on Twitter @carbidoff.

The Pollard Review into the Newsnight report dealing with allegations of child abuse against Jimmy Savile criticised BBC management but found no evidence of a cover-up. The MacQuarrie Review into the 2 November Newsnight report which led to a former senior Conservative politician being wrongly implicated in child abuse found the Newsnight team at fault for not seeking validation. A number of BBC editorial changes have occurred in the wake of the reports.

Steve Mitchell, deputy director of BBC news and head of news programmes, has resigned.

Peter Rippon has left his role as Newsnight editor and is now in talks with the BBC on a new position. Karen O’Connor will be the acting editor of Newsnight while a replacement is sought.

Adrian Van Klaveren has left his role as editorial lead and controller of Radio Five Live and will move to a new BBC role in 2013.

Liz Gibbons has left her role of acting editor (formerly deputy editor) of Newsnight and will move to another position within BBC News.

Alistair Dawber, the foreign editor of The Independent, will become the Jerusalem correspondent for The Independent, The Independent on Sunday and the London Evening Standard in the New Year.

Trevor Davies has left his role as sports editor across six Archant newspapers: the Hackney Gazette, Newham Recorder, Ilford Recorder Series, Docklands & East London Advertiser, Ilford Recorder and Woodford Recorder. A replacement is yet to be announced.

Suzanne McTaggart has announced on Twitter that she has left her role as senior reporter at the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Lee Procter will leave his role of sports writer at the North West Evening Mail (Barrow) on 11 January 2013.

The Guardian has launched the Guardian Audio Edition in partnership with Audible. The hour-long weekly audio digest will be a pick of the week’s news, culture and opinion pieces as published in the Guardian.

The Brand Republic division of Haymarket Business Media, which publishes Campaign, Marketing and PRWeek, has announced editorial changes. Danny Rogers has taken over as brand editor of Campaign and Media Week as well as retaining his group editor-in-chief role. Danny will also continue to oversee PRWeek until a dedicated brand editor is appointed. Arif Durrani has been appointed head of media and Maisie McCabe has been appointed news editor, both will work on Campaign and Media Week.

Claire Beale has been appointed brand editor of Marketing. Noelle McElhatoon, editor of Marketing, has decided to leave after 12 years at Haymarket to become a freelance consultant.

Gordan MacMillan has been appointed editor of BrandRepublic.com and retains his role as group social media editor.

Jon Wadeson has been appointed editor at spn (Swimming Pool News) and What Pool & Hot Tub. Jon replaces Alan Lewis who is leaving to focus on other publishing projects.
