Q: How did you get into the fashion and beauty media industry?
A:
I started out as an intern in the Louis Vuitton public relations department a few months out of college. From there I started my fashion, acting, and lifestyle blog while working in the marketing and public relations department of Landor Associates. Now I do trend forecasting, on-camera interviews, designer profiles, social media campaigns, and product reviews.

Q: What keeps you in the industry? What do you like most about your profession?
A: My love for storytelling and writing keeps me in the industry. Press releases tell a story of how a product or campaign came to be, social media posts and tweets are small snapshots of a story that creates a dialogue with the company and consumer, and blogging is a way to share my own voice and opinion with the world. I’m a sucker for anything on-camera as I also have a background in performing arts and act in independent films.

But what’s most important to me is being authentic and maintaining the integrity of my blog. If I ever felt that I could no longer do that, I would stop.

Q: What are some hot trends we can look out for this fall?
A: This fall be on the look-out for a lot of fur (pony hair, chinchilla, or fox hair), military looks (green army jackets and coats are here to stay), equestrian-inspired looks (tall black or dark brown riding boots are a must this season), prints (floral for the pants and 70′s inspired maxi dresses), leather (pants or mixed-fabrication jackets), and metallic bronze and silver (think gold and silver jewelry and accessories). The hipster prep look is also still a go-to look for the season, opt for an argyle sweater paired with a plaid skirt and add a silk scarf for a touch of sophistication.

Q: If you had to choose one outfit to wear every day, what would it look like?
A: It would definitely be a comfy pair of dark denim vintage jeans, a white boyfriend tee-shirt, a black Chanel 2.55 purse, silver gladiator sandals, and a long Alexander McQueen skull scarf.

Q: What is your favorite place to shop?
A: I love LF Stores. You can always find unique pieces that are the perfect blend of boho-chic and rocker fab.

Q: Any tips for PR professionals who want to get in contact with you?
A: Yes, they can email me or visit my blog. I just launched a new brand ambassador program and I’m so excited to share it with the fashion community.

Q: What are you PR pet peeves, or what is the strangest pitch you’ve received?
A: My biggest PR pet peeve is when you can tell they did a ‘copy & paste’ email/pitch. We all do it, I do it! But it’s important to double-check the formatting and make sure you swap out the appropriate names and information. My strangest pitch was for a software program that did digital scrapbooking – good in theory, bad in practice. Isn’t that why we have Pinterest?
