Cision Staff Head to Disney, Oklahoma to Power Their Stories

Vision and Values Lobby ArtThis is a guest post by HR Manager Ashley Elston and Director of Organizational Development Liz Corcoran.

This summer, we launched a Powering Your Story program here at Cision. In addition to our commitment to Powering the Story of our clients, we wanted to make sure our Vision was being reflected in the stories of our employees.  They have stories to tell just like you, and it’s important for us to make sure they are shared and heard by others.

Across our organization, we asked our employees to tell us about an opportunity they’ve always wanted to seize, a trip they’ve wanted to take, or any personal mission they’d like to fulfill. In return, we promised to give two of our employees $1,000 and an additional week off to help make their story come to life. The stories we received were amazing, and we didn’t envy the group of Cision employees that were tasked with choosing this year’s winners.

The outcome? Production technician Brian had not been on a vacation in 12 years. He was picked as one of our two Power Your Story winners, and enjoyed a week of vacation bliss with his family and mom in Disney World.

The other winner, client account product specialist James, is setting out to help the victims of the Moore, Okla., tornado, which killed 25 people and destroyed 1,150 homes when it hit on May 20. James will leave Sept. 16 for his journey, and will chronicle it on his Facebook page, where you also can donate to the cause.

We’ll be back soon to share Brian’s and James’ stories, and would love to hear some of the ways you or your company motivates its staff in the comments below!
