As 2012 draws to a close, Vocus Media Research Group has created a list of 10 magazine launches from the past year that we consider to be the top picks. Just like last year’s selections, these magazines were determined by reach, originality, popularity or a combination of these qualities. SIGNÉ M – Serving as a complement to the TV show of the same name, this magazine follows the private life and culinary experiments of Louis-François Marcotte, one of the most renowned chefs in Quebec.

Better Buildings – After folding in the ‘90s as a New York City-centered publication, Better Buildings has made a comeback as a go-to magazine for the building operations industry. This time around it has gone national.

Native Max – Ownership, operation and content of this magazine are 100 percent Native American. For anyone interested in learning about up-and-coming Native Americans in areas of fashion, entrepreneurship, sports or music and art, this is the magazine for you.

StandUp Magazine
– Celebrates diversity in sports by featuring leaders and role models who make a difference in the world of professional sports and their own communities.

Ratchet+Wrench – Features profiles of leading auto care and service centers. Operators in the mechanical auto care industry share their stories of success and issues they have encountered to offer solutions and strengthen workplace environment in auto care shops.

Cosmopolitan for Latinas – Hearst magazines introduces a new publication with a Latina focus. It provides Latina women with stories and articles about beauty, fashion and relationships.

Louisiana Kitchen & Culture – Highlights the best that Louisiana cuisine has to offer, while delving into the culture that has been shaped by Louisiana’s unique multilingual and multiethnic history.

M – Another publication that folded in the ‘90s, M has been resurrected as a quarterly fashion magazine geared towards men whose yearly income is $200 thousand and higher.

Modern Luxury Brides South Florida & The Caribbean – Featuring photographs and stories of some of the most luxurious weddings in South Florida and the Caribbean islands, this magazine gives future brides valuable ideas for planning their own weddings.

Retail Minded – Provides retail and wholesale news to independently-owned boutiques and shops in the retail industry.
