Veteran columnist Juan Gonzalez has resigned from the New York Daily News after 29 years. He will remain co-host of the daily, independent news program Democracy Now!, and his future plans include working on a book about New York politics and teaching journalism at Rutgers University next January. Gonzalez has been recognized for his contributions at the NYDN with two George Polk Awards in 1998 and 2010.
