William Rhoden penned his final Sports of The Times column for The New York Times on July 24. Though he’s stepping away from his full-time columnist position after 26 consecutive years, he’d been at the newspaper for nearly 35 years. Rhoden’s diverse career includes four years as a jazz critic at the Baltimore Sun and four years as an associate editor at Ebony Magazine. Follow The New York Times’ sports coverage on Twitter.
