The Daily Herald in Everett, Washington, recently announced big changes in its newsroom leadership, including:

  • The new local editor is Scott North, a longtime reporter and editor who’s worked at the paper for more than 28 years, most recently as assistant city editor.
  • Eric Stevick is the new deputy local editor, who will help Smith lead the Daily Herald’s team of reporters. He’s been at the newspaper nearly as long as North, covering local news, education and crime for 26 years.
  • In addition to reporting, Diana Hefley will take on editing duties for the Herald. She’s primarily covered law and justice, with a focus on mental health issues, since 2002.
