CNN has announced several staff additions and promotions to its Washington roster.

  • Mark Preston has been named senior political analyst. He has served as executive editor for the politics team since 2014.
  • Jeff Zelenywho had been working as senior Washington correspondent, has been named a senior White House correspondent.
  • Athena Jones, previously a general assignment correspondent, has been named a White House correspondent.
  • Sara Murray, previously a politics reporter, also has been named a White House correspondent.
  • Jeremy Diamond has been named a White House reporter after working as a political reporter since 2015.
  • Phil Mattingly, general assignment correspondent since last January, has been named a Congressional correspondent.
  • Manu Raju has been named senior Congressional reporter. He joined CNN from POLITICO as a senior political reporter in 2015.
  • Sunlen Serfaty has been named a Congressional correspondent, previously a national correspondent since 2013.
