ProPublica Illinois has named Louise Kiernan as the site’s editor in chief, effective April 4.  Kiernan is a veteran Chicago journalist, who won a Pulitzer Prize as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune. She has spent the last seven years as an associate professor at Northwestern University, and also served as co-director of Medill’s Social Justice News Nexus, the NU’s social justice and investigative reporting specialization. ProPublica Illinois is the first regional edition of ProPublica; the site will launch sometime in 2017 and will cover investigative journalism across the state of Illinois.
