Two longtime staffers have new roles with Bloomberg News: Scott Deveau is slated to cover shareholder activists out of New York. He is currently the mergers and acquisitions reporter out of Toronto, and will remain on the beat after his move to NYC. Caroline Gage will take over as executive editor of global finance, succeeding Christine Harper. Gage was most recently the managing editor for the newswire, and has previously served as the editor and deputy team leader of the US corporate finance team. h/t Talking Biz News
Mackenzie Weinger has begun her new role as policy editor for the National Journal. She previously covered national security as a reporter for the Cipher Brief, as well as reported for Politico for nearly three years prior.
Joe Kieta is leaving the Modesto Bee to take over as top editor of the Fresno Bee; he replaces Jim Boren, who retired on Jan 19. Kieta will remain at the helm of the Merced Sun-Star. The Van Jones Show premiered Jan 27, featuring host Van Jones on CNN. Jones has been a political contributor for CNN since 2012. The show will feature political and cultural guests twice-monthly.
After three years serving as San Francisco bureau chief for Forbes, Miguel Helft is leaving the role to spend time evaluating his opportunities. Helft had been the bureau chief since January 2015. He had also been a senior writer at Fortune Magazine. h/t Talking Biz News
News and Tribune‘s evening news government reporter Elizabeth Beilman says farewell as she leaves her role after four years. She was the lead copy editor for the College Heights Herald before that.
Crista Lacqua has joined Star Magazine and OK! Magazine as assistant fashion and beauty editor. She comes from Women’s Health magazine, where she most recently served as contributing beauty assistant for a little over a year.
WKYC-TV, the NBC affiliate for Cleveland, Ohio, welcomes Pat Chiesa from WHIZ-TV in Zanesville. He is now a multimedia journalist overseeing sports, after serving as sports reporter and director for Southeastern Ohio.
