CisionScoop: After three years at Rolling Stone, Lauren Kelley has left to join The New York Times as its newest editor, focusing on gender issues and news. She has served as senior politics editor at Rolling Stone since early 2015, and has previously been on staff at AlterNet and Philanthropy News Digest.

CisionScoop: In the wake of Entertainment Weekly’s upcoming move to Los Angeles, Dalene Rovenstine has left the magazine to join Grok Nation as its new managing editor. Rovenstine has been with EW since June of 2014, most recently as its deputy editorial manager. At Grok Nation, she will serve as the main editorial contact for pitches and press releases.

Marie Claire has picked Julia Gall as its new accessories editor. Until now, Gall has served as senior fashion and accessories editor at Interview Magazine since 2014, and has recently had contributions featured in Vogue Mexico and Vogue China.

CNN has announced several moves in its Washington bureau to enhance its political coverage:

  • Jim Acosta, who has worked with CNN for over a decade and covered the White House since 2013, has been promoted to chief White House correspondent.
  • Pamela Brown, who has covered the Department of Justice for CNN since March 2014, now covers the White House as a senior correspondent.
  • Sara Murray replaces Brown as Department of Justice correspondent. Murray has worked for CNN since 2015, initially as a politics reporter and later as a White House Correspondent.
  • Senior Washington correspondent Joe Johns shifts from the White House to cover national politics and the upcoming midterm elections. He has been with CNN since 2004.

Hearst has announced the following updates to its staff, as it completes its acquisition of Rodale Inc.’s health and wellness brands:

  • Bill Strickland, formerly group editorial director at Rodale, is now editorial director for Hearst’s new Enthusiast Group, which includes formerly Rodale-owned titles Bicycling and Runner’s World.
  • Ronan Gardiner, formerly chief advertising officer for Rodale, is now vice president and publishing director for Men’s Health, Bicycling, and Runner’s World.
  • Reporting to Gardiner will be Paul Collins, who has been named publisher for both Bicycling and Runner’s World.
  • David Zinczenko has also been added to the Men’s Health staff, as an interim editorial director until Hearst names a permanent editor in chief. He previously worked for Rodale as editor in chief at Men’s Health from 2000 to 2012, and editorial director of Women’s Health and Prevention.
  • Women’s Health will join the Young Women’s Group at Hearst, with Liz Plosser as its new editor in chief. Plosser has worked with several fitness and wellness brands, including Well+Good, SELF, and SoulCycle.
  • Donna Kalajian Lagani, senior vice president and publishing director for the Young Women’s Group, has also been added to the staff of Women’s Health, overseeing advertising and marketing operations.
  • Prevention has been added to Hearst’s Women’s Lifestyle Group, and will be overseen by editorial director Jane Francisco and senior vice president and group publishing director Patricia Haegele.
  • Chris Peel, formerly publisher for Men’s Health, is now executive director of the Men’s and Enthusiast Media Groups for Hearst Digital Media, and will oversee online advertising for Esquire, Men’s Health, Popular Mechanics, Bicycling, and Runner’s World.
