NPR has named two new hosts for its flagship news programs All Things Considered and Morning Edition. Ailsa Chang will now host All Things Considered alongside Audie Cornish, Mary Louise Kelly and Ari Shapiro. Noel King will join David Green, Steve Inskeep and Rachel Martin as a host for Morning Edition, as well as the Up First Podcast. Both Chang and King previously reported for NPR’s Planet Money podcast.
Bloomberg Government has named a new congressional leadership reporter, Katherine Scott. Scott previously covered bill markups and floor action as a legislative data analyst. She joined Bloomberg from CQ Roll Call in 2016.
Matt Ericson has been promoted to digital assistant managing editor at The New York Times, and will be oversee the teams that develop the paper’s digital offering. He was most recently an associate editor at NYT, and previously worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
After spending the summer as an intern for The Wall Street Journal, Francesca Fontana has been hired by TheStreet to serve as a technology reporter. Fontana is a recent graduate of the University of Oregon; she reported for the Register-Guard in Eugene, Oregon while attending, and also wrote for the school’s student website, Daily Emerald. h/t Talking Biz News
Effective immediately, the new president of Hearst Publications is Jeffrey Johnson. He was previously the publisher of the San Francisco Chronicle, a Hearst newspaper. He replaces Mark Aldam, who was promoted to chief operating officer.
Peachtree TV has cancelled Atlanta Plugged In, a daily features program hosted by Kimberley Kennedy. The show previously aired on WGCL-TV, Atlanta’s CBS affiliate.
WBAL-TV veteran Donna Hamilton will retire from her post as evening anchor after 22 years at the Baltimore NBC affiliate. She joined the station in 1995 as an anchor for the 5pm newscast, and currently anchors at 5, 6 and 11pm. Her last day is May 23.
