CisionScoop: Angela Tafoya has been promoted to editorial director of Lonny Magazine. She previously served as the home design magazine’s managing editor since 2016. Prior to working at Lonny, she served as West Coast lifestyle editor of Refinery29.
CisionScoop: AdWeek welcomes Lisa Lacy as a new tech reporter. She previously served as a freelance writer as well as senior reporter for The Drum.
There have been some new hires at CNBC Online:
- Anjali Athavaley joins CNBC as a news editor and will help edit and manage the website. She recently departed from Reuters where she had worked since 2014 in various positions including most recently as a telecom reporter.
- Amanda Macias has been hired as national security correspondent, based in Washington D.C. She joins CNBC.com from CBS Radio where she served as web editor.
Katie McDonough has started as the newest senior editor for Jezebel. She has previously served as a reporter for Gizmodo and a staff writer for Salon.
Vanity Fair has parted ways with several staffers, including managing editor Chris Garret. The departures come after the hiring of new editor in chief Radhika Jones, who plans to take the magazine in a new editorial direction.
Stephanie Clary has joined the team at CNN Online as director of social publishing. She most recently worked for Mic where she had been managing editor since April 2017. She had also previously worked at Breaking News and The Seattle Times.
Over at McClatchy, executive editor of the Washington bureau, Kristin Roberts, has been named regional editor of the East region. She will continue to oversee the Washington bureau as well as oversee the Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, and Bradenton Herald in Florida; the Macon Telegraph and Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in Georgia; the Biloxi Sun Herald in Mississippi, the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky and the Centre Daily Times in Pennsylvania.
Christopher Cadelago is joining POLITICO as a White House reporter in the coming weeks. He was previously a reporter for the Sacramento Bee’s capital bureau as a reporter, and prior to that was a capital correspondent for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
In the midst of their search for a permanent editor, the Chicago Reader has hired Dave Newbart as interim editor of the paper. He was formerly senior editor at DNAinfo Chicago where he had worked since 2012. He has also served as the assistant metro editor of the Chicago Sun Times and as a staff writer for the Chicago Tribune.
