CisionScoop: Brigitt Hauck Earley is no longer with Real Simple Online. After more than three years with the outlet, most recently as deputy editor, she is now a freelance writer and editor, covering various topics including home, health, and travel.
CisionScoop: After more than five years at ABC News, reporter and producer Stephanie Zimmerman has left the program. While with the network, she produced “ABC News Fixer,” and contributed to consumer investigative stories around the country.
CisionScoop: Donna Goodison is also freelancing now, after over a decade reporting for the Boston Herald. During her time at the Herald, she covered a number of topics, including retail, tourism, and real estate.
NBC Digital is bringing on former Time.com deputy editor Julie Shapiro as its new enterprise editor. Shapiro began at Time in 2015, and before that, edited and reported for DNAinfo.com.
Tanzina Vega is taking over for Jock Hockenberry May 7 as the new host of the public radio program The Takeaway produced by Public Radio International in partnership with WNYC Radio. Most recently, Vega was a national reporter for CNN, covering race and inequality in the United States.
Hearst Communications has named Richard Dorment as editor in chief of Men’s Health. Currently a senior editor at WIRED, Dorment will leave the Conde Nast title and assume his new position with Hearst on April 15. Prior to WIRED, he spent almost a decade at Esquire.
The New York Times Magazine has announced the addition of Ronen Bergman as a staff writer. Bergman has served as a longtime contributor for the magazine, and is based in Tel Aviv. He has covered numerous topics for NYT, including the Aleppo Codex and the assassination of Rafik Hariri, former prime minister of Lebanon.
Greg Sandoval is joining Business Insider as its newest senior reporter, covering tech. Previously, he has reported for The Verge, CNET, Associated Press, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. h/t TalkingBiz News
The Chicago Sun-Times has hired Ji Suk Yi as a features reporter, covering entertainment both online and in the printed Friday WeekendPlus section. Suk Yi recently left her post at Windy City Live, where she served as a contributor and social media producer for seven years.
Mehdi Hasan has has joined The Intercept, both as a news columnist and a host for its news and politics podcast, Deconstructed. Hasan has also worked with The New Statesman and Al Jazeera, and is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Former New York Times film writer Monica Castillo has joined The Lily, the online magazine published by the Washington Post that focuses on millennial women. She will be covering news and women’s issues in her new role. She has contributed to a number of outlets, including International Business Times, RogerEbert.com, The Village Voice, Cosmopolitan, and Teen VOGUE.
A longtime writer for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Colton Lochhead has been promoted to bureau chief of the Journal’s Carson City bureau. He began his career at the Journal shortly after graduating from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas in 2012, and has covered topics including marijuana, politics, crime, and local government.
