CisionScoop: John Burek, formerly editor in chief of Tom's Hardware, is now executive editor at PCMag.com. An experienced computer and hardware journalist, Burek was also previously editor in chief of ComputerShopper.com, where he worked for over a decade.
CisionScoop: InsideClimate News gained a new reporter earlier this week. James Bruggers, who has previously reported for The Courier-Journal, The Contra Costa Times and The Columbian, now covers energy and environment with a focus on the South.
The New York Times has announced the staff members comprising its 2018 Politics team, headed by politics editor Patrick Healy:
- Erin McCann will aid Healy in leading the team as deputy politics editor. She has worked as a staff editor for NYT's Express desk since 2015.
- Bill Brink has been named a senior politics editor, focused on news and enterprise. He recently led the Pulitzer-winning investigation of Bill O'Reilly and has been with NYT since 2003.
- Haeyoun Park is also a senior politics editor, focused on news, projects and visuals. Park has been a graphics editor at the paper since 2006, and for the Chicago Tribune prior to that.
- Filling out the rest of the team are the following reporters (unless specified): Jonathan Martin; Alexander Burns; Matt Flegenheimer; Kate Zernike; Maggie Astor; Elizabeth Dias; Caitlin Dickerson; Sydney Ember; Danny Hakim; Astead Herndon; Jeremy W. Peters; Stephanie Saul; Liam Stack; and Isabella Grullón Paz (news assistant).
Joanna Saltz, who has been the editorial director for Delish since 2015, is adding oversight of HouseBeautiful.com to her role. She is the website's first editorial director, and will oversee both brands as Hearst pushes to focus more heavily on digital content.
The Wall Street Journal announced a new addition to its Mansion team: Katerina Ang, former reporter for Moneyish and Women's Wear Daily, will now serve as digital editor, covering features for the brand. h/t Talking Biz News
Lachlan Markay, current White House reporter for The Daily Beast, has recently launched Pay Dirt, a weekly newsletter that covers the intersection between money and politics. Markay has previously written for The Washington Free beacon, The Heritage Foundation and Roll Call.
