Quartz has hired Whet Moser as deputy obsession editor, effective July 16. He was previously a senior editor at Chicago magazine, a position he has held since 2011. Prior to that, he produced web content for Chicago, and before that worked for the Chicago Reader. h/t Talking Biz News
Tracy Connor has joined the Daily Beast as executive editor, and will begin her duties in August. She is currently finishing her work as a senior writer for NBCNews.com. Connor is a New York Daily News veteran, who had previously worked for the paper as health and medicine reporter. Prior to that, she wrote for The New York Post.
Reuters has welcomed Collin Eaton as energy reporter based in Huston. He comes from the Huston Chronicle, where he covered the same beat for five years. Prior to that, he reported on banking and finance for the Houston Business Journal. h/t Talking Biz News
Vice Media will bid farewell to Jake Goldman, who will leave his post as VP for communication of VICE to become COO at Risa Heller Communications later this summer. Goldman has been with VICE since 2014, when he joined the staff as deputy communications director. Prior to that, he worked as deputy press secretary for the City of New York.
Ashlei King has joined KLRT-TV, the Fox affiliate in LIttle Rock, Arkansas, as morning anchor effective July 16. She delivers the news alongside Susanne Brunner and meteorologists Pat Walker and Natalie Walters every weekday morning from 7 to 9am. King was previously a reporter at KABB-TV in San Antonio, Texas.
CNN Digital has promoted Rachel Smolkin to VP and executive editor of politics for the platform. She was previously executive editor of politics since 2014. Prior to CNN, Smolkin worked for POLITICO as managing editor and deputy managing editor. Before that, she spent four years at USA Today.
Janessa Webb will exit ABC's WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio, July 29 to join MSNBC and Early Today as a meteorologist. Before WEWS-TV, Webb was a meteorologist and producer/reporter for four years at the CBS affiliate KTVA in Anchorage, Alaska, and a weather director and chief meteorologist for three years at KYUR-TV, also in Anchorage.
After one year hosting The Jam on WCIU-TV in Chicago, Danielle Robay has signed off from the news, talk and entertainment show; she plans to return to Los Angeles. Until a permanent host is hired, guest hosts will be filling in each morning alongside continuing co-hosts Jordan Cornette and Felicia Lawrence.
Eliseo "Short-E" Cierra has been named program director for iHeartMedia's WBTT-FM and WZJZ-FM in Fort Myers, Florida. He was most recently music director and an on-air personality at Entercom’s hip hop KSFM, Sacramento. He has also worked for CBS Radio and REELZ Channel.
Martha Stewart Weddings magazine has ended its quarterly print edition, and will remain on newsstands as an annual print publication. Throughout the year, the outlet will be digital except for a once a year Weddings Guide that will publish each September. The magazine had been a quarterly pub since 1999.
