CisionScoop: Jezebel staff writer Ellie Shechet has left the blog after four years at the outlet. She joined Jezebel in 2014 as assistant editor, and previously worked for Glamour as editorial assistant and Bullett Magazine as freelance web editor. Jezebel focuses on celebrity, sex and fashion for women.
Matt Apuzzo will switch jobs at The New York Times , and will move to Brussels in August to serve as investigative correspondent for the international desk. He is currently an investigative reporter for NYT in Washington, covering national security and law enforcement. He joined the paper in 2014 as a reporter, and previously worked for the Associated Press.
Longtime business journalist Norman Pearlstine has been named executive editor for the Los Angeles Times. Pearlstine has a long and noteworthy resume and has worked in an array of top editorial jobs, including executive editor for The Wall Street Journal, executive editor for Forbes, and editor in chief at Time, Inc. h/t Talking Biz News
Bankarte, the website helping consumers maximize money and manage their finances, has hired two new staffers:
Margaret Moffett has been named managing editor of the Triad Business Journal, succeeding Lloyd Whittington who was named editor in chief of the American City Business Journals. Moffett is a longtime News & Record staffer and had worked at the outlet for more than 20 years, most recently as database reporter.
Reporter Keith Whitney has left WGCL-TV, the CBS affiliate in Atlanta, after less than a year at the station. Whitney is a veteran Atlanta reporter and previously spent two decades at WXIA-TV. Prior to that, he reported for WTVD-TV for a decade.
POLITICO States has hired Madina Toure as education reporter covering education policies in the state of New York. She comes from the Observer, where she spent the last two years as politics reporter. Prior to that, she worked for the TimesLedger Newspapers.
Patrick Quinn has been promoted to general assignment reporter/editor at KOMO-TV, the ABC affiliate in Seattle.. He has been with the station for five years, mostly on a freelancer basis. He has also worked for TODAY'S TMJ4 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as executive producer for Live at Daybreak.
KSHB-TV, the NBC-affiliated station in Kansas City, Missouri, has parted ways with Lisa Benson. She had been a general assignment reporter since joined the staff in 2004. Prior to that, she was a reporter/anchor at KQTV-TV in Joseph, Missouri.
