Ben Fritz has been promoted to West Coast bureau chief for US news at The Wall Street Journal. He previously covered Disney and the entertainment industry for the Journal for five years. Prior to that he covered Hollywood for the Los Angeles Times and Variety.
Current Kaiser Health News executive editor Christine Spolar is set to join The New York Times as international business editor Sept. 17. She will start her position in New York, and move to London in October. Spolar is an accomplished journalist, who spent her career reporting for the Financial Times, Bloomberg News, Chicago Tribune, and the Washington Post, among others.
After cutting its newsroom in half in mid-July, the New York Daily News has named Robert York editor in chief and publisher of the paper. He will absorb the duties of former EIC Jim Rich and managing editor Kristen Lee, who were let go amidst the newsroom reorganization. York was previously the editor and publisher of The Morning Call, a Tronc-owned newspaper in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Before that, he spent two decades at the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Shia Kapos has joined POLITICO as a reporter and an author of POLITICO's Illinois Playbook newsletter, covering Illinois politics and government; she is based in Chicago. Kapos was previously a reporter for Dealreporter & Activistmonitor, where she wrote big-picture stories about shareholder issues, activism,and corporate governance. Before that, she worked as a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times.

The State Journal in Frankfort, Kentucky has welcomed David Hamilton as a reporter covering city government, local business and the Frankfort Plant Board. He will also report on other, general assignment stories and contribute to FRANK. magazine. He comes from The Natchez Democrat in Natchez, Mississippi, where he reported on various beats.
Kate Howard has been promoted to managing editor for the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. She previously served as an investigative reporter specializing in higher education and government accountability since joining the staff in 2016. Prior to that, she was a higher education reporter for the Omaha World-Herald.
Chelsea Thomas has shifted her role on KWBL-FM in Denver, Colorado, and is now a midday on-air personality and host on B-Dub and Chelsea, effective July 20. She has been with iHeartRadio since April, and joined the staff from Alpha Media Top 40 WDJX-FM in Louisville, Kentucky, where she served as MD, morning host, and midday host.
WFRE-FM in Frederick, Maryland, has upped Brian Mo to program director, in addition to his duties as midday on-air personality. Mo has been with the station since 2014, and previously worked for WSLC-FM in Roanoke, Virginia, and WKKW-FM in Fairmont, West Virginia.
