CisionScoop: Alan Burdziak has joined Acuris as a reporter covering mergers and acquisitions with a specific focus on consumers and industrials. He comes from ALM's Verdict Search, where he spent the last year as a reporter. Prior to that, he worked for Columbia Daily Tribune as public safety reporter. Acuris is a web-based service that tracks mergers and acquisitions activity, and the lawyers and bankers involved.
Bloomberg Radio Network has brought on Jason Kelly as co-host for Bloomberg Radio's Bloomberg Markets show, covering financial markets and the technology industry. He will broadcast daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. alongside Carol Massar. Kelly will also continue his duties as the New York bureau chief for Bloomberg Television, a position he has held since 2015.
The Washington Post has welcomed Erin Cox as a politics and government reporter in the paper's bureau in Annapolis. She was previously a statehouse bureau chief of the Baltimore Sun since 2012. Before that, she worked at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, and before that reported for the Orlando Sentinel.
Paul Albergo has been promoted to executive editor for Bloomberg BNA, upped from bureau chief. Albergo has spent his entire journalism career at the outlet, and joined the staff in 1986 as a reporter. Since then, he has worked in a variety of editorial positions, including chief of correspondents, and news director.
The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky has hired Alfred Miller as development reporter covering development outside the downtown area as well as reporting business-related enterprise stories. His first day was July 30. Miller previously worked as a business and government reporter at The State Journal in Frankfort, Kentucky, and has also freelanced for Politico and Fortune magazines. h/t Talking Biz News
S&P Global Market Intelligence has added two new healthcare reporters to its staff:
- Julianne Wey joins the staff to cover emerging small-cap and mid-cap bio-pharmaceutical companies as well as gene sequencing technology. She is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Ricky Zapp joins S&P to cover federal policy affecting healthcare providers and medical technology companies, as well as trends in state healthcare policy. He is based in Arlington, Virginia.
GQ magazine has brought on Julia Ioffe as correspondent; she will cover politics and national security. Ioffe comes from The Atlantic, where she was a writer for two years. She has also contributed to POLITICO and The New York Times. In 2016 she wrote a profile of Melania Trump, which GQ published.
Allen Henry has left Fox-owned WVUE-TV in New Orleans. He was a reporter for the Morning Edition and had been with the station since 2017. Prior to that, he spent three years as general assignment reporter at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama.
PROFILE by BuzzFeed News is a new weekly Facebook Watch program airing on Sundays and hosted by Audie Cornish, host of NPR's All Things Considered. It tells the story of a new personality each week making news in politics, entertainment, business or tech. PROFILE is executive produced by Tracey Eyers, previously of NBC's Talk Stoop, as well as Shani Hilton, BuzzFeed's vice president of news and programming and Cindy Vinegas-Gesuale, BuzzFeed News head of programming.
