Aaron Hicklin will step down from his editor in chief position of Out magazine after the September issue. He has been on the top of the masthead for 12 years, and prior to that helmed the now-defunct BlackBook magazine for three years. Hicklin has also held leadership roles at Gear Magazine.   

The New York Times has hired Sarah ​Jeong as editorial board writer focusing on technology. She will start in September. Jeong is currently a senior writer at the Verge  covering law, policy and regulation. She is also the author of “The Internet of Garbage,” which examines the many forms of online harassment.

Mary Wisniewski has joined Bankrate as a consumer banking reporter. She most recently  deputy editor for the BankThink blog at American Banker, where she also served as a fintech reporter since 2012. Before that, she reported for the Royal Media Group as business reporter and digital editor. 

The Los Angeles Times has added Jennifer Haberkorn as Congress reporter out of the paper's Washington bureau. She previously spent eight years with Politico, most recently reporting on the healthcare industry. Prior to that, she worked for The Washington Times as congressional reporter. 

D CEO, has updated the top of its masthead by promoting an editor, and bidding farewell to another:

  • Christine Perez has been upped to editor covering Dallas businesses and CEOs. She was previously an executive editor for the outlet for four years, and joined the staff in 2010 as managing editor. 
  • Managing editor Danielle Abril has exited the outlet after two years. She was previously a reporter for the Dallas Business Journal. 

Bryan Truta has been named senior director of radio operations and morning host for KTBG-FM radio in Kansas City. He comes from KCKC-FM in Kansas City, where he spent two years as program director and on-air personality. He is also a gameday announcer for the Kansas City Chiefs.

KUER-FM in Salt Lake City, Nevada, has appointed podcast and talk show producer Joel Meyer as director of programming and promotion of the NPR affiliate. He was previously executive producer for WNYC-FM in New York, and before that spent two years at WBEZ-FM in Chicago. 

Megan Butterfly, the morning broadcast co-host at WKKT-FM in Charlotte, North Carolina, will exit the station after nine years; her last day is Aug 24. Butterfly has been the co-host of the Wake Up Morning Show with Jay Michaels since 2009. Prior to that, she worked at CBS radio for a decade.
