Laura J. Keller has left Bloomberg News after four years as a Wall Street reporter covering the largest banks in the U.S. She has also contributed to Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio reporting on various financial topics. Prior to that, she spent three years at Debtwire. Keller is available for freelance feature work focused on financial topics, especially credit markets and U.S. banks.
The Atlantic has hired Prashant Rao as global editor. He starts in October and will be based in London. Rao joins The Atlantic from The New York Times, where for the past three years he has written and edited stories about business, economics, and finance in Europe as deputy business editor. Prior to that, he spent almost a decade at Agence France Presse.
Jacqui Heinrich will join FOX News Sept. 4 as general assignment reporter. She comes from WFXT-TV, the Fox affiliate in Boston, where she served as weekend evening reporter/anchor. She has also reported for KTNV-TV in Las Vegas and KOAA-TV in Pueblo, Colorado.
The New York Times has welcomed Ali Winston as an investigative reporter on the Metro Desk, where he covers surveillance, privacy, and criminal justice. He is a 2017 George Polk award-winning investigative reporter, who produced a series in the East Bay Express about the sex-crime scandal in the Oakland Police Department. He has also reported on a joint project for Frontline and ProPublica.
Jonathan Rockoff has been promoted to deputy chief of The Wall Street Journal health and science bureau. He has been with WSJ since 2008 and has covered the pharma industry since he joined the staff. Before that, he worked for the Baltimore Sun and the Providence Journal. h/t Talking Biz News
Entertainment Weekly has brought on Shana Naomi Krochmal as digital director. She comes from Entertainment Tonight Online, where she served as editor in chief for three years. Prior to that, Krochmal worked at Out Magazine as a contributing editor. She also held roles as supervising producer at Al Jazeera America and Current TV.
Lorenzo Hall has joined CBS-owned WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., as weekend anchor and reporter. He was previously with WTIC-TV in Hartford, Conn., where he was a weekday anchor. Before that, he served as general assignment reporter for KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
WHUR-FM in Washington, D.C., will part ways with longtime general manager Jim Watkins, who will leave the business to focus on his telecom company. His last day is Aug. 31. Watkins has been with the station since 1971, and throughout the years has worked in a variety of positions. He is credited with taking WHUR from a stand-alone station to a powerhouse network of six stations forming the Howard University Radio Network.
Alexan Balekian has rejoined KSEE-TV, the NBC affiliate in Fresno, California, as weekend anchor and reporter. He will work in the same capacity at CBS-owned KGPE-TV as well. He was previously with WFXR-TV in Roanoke, Virginia for a little more than a year. Balekian's first stint at KSEE was from 2004-2009, when he was the station's weekend sports anchor.
KXII-TV, the CBS-affiliated station in Sherman, Texas, has promoted sports anchor/reporter Jeremy Thomas to morning anchor. He has been with the station since 2015, when he was hired as a reporter, and moved into sports in 2016. Prior to that, Thomas was a sports writer for The Daily Texan.
