Osita Nwanevu has joined The New Yorker as staff writer based in Washington, D.C., and will write about news from Capitol Hill and the midterms. He most recently served as a writer for Slate, and spent the last two years covering politics and the future of the Democratic Party. He is the former editor of the South Side Weekly in Chicago, and has also written for Harper's and the Chicago Reader.
The Washington Post has hired Trish Wilson as environment editor, a newly created position on the national desk. Wilson was previously an international investigations editor at the Associated Press for five years, and had been with the AP since 2011. Prior to that, she was the assistant managing editor for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Longtime reporter Michael Graczyk has retired from the Associated Press after more than 40 years with the wire. He joined the AP in 1972, and most recently served as a reporter from Texas specializing in criminal justice, death penalty, prisons, corrections-related issues, and Texas history. He was also the designated AP representative to witness executions.
The London bureau of Bloomberg News has added a reporter and switched the beat of another: Rupert Rowling is now gold markets reporter covering gold markets and mining companies. He was previously the oil markets reporter for Bloomberg News and joined the wire in 2012. Ksenia Galouchko has moved to London as a reporter covering European stocks. She was previously a financial markets reporter out of Bloomberg's Moscow bureau, and has been on staff since 2011.
Austin Carr will join Bloomberg’s Global Technology team as a writer on Sept. 4. covering features and breaking news. He comes from Fast Company, where he has worked as a senior features writer covering the intersection of technology and design. Before that, he worked as a paralegal.
Lauren Petrelli has moved back to her native Florida for a position as a reporter at Fox-affiliated WFTX-TV in Ft. Myers. She was previously a social media reporter for WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and before that spent a year at WOFL-TV in Orlando.
Barron's has parted ways with longtime senior editor Tiernan Ray. He joined the staff in 2005, and prior to that worked for Smart Money and Bloomberg News. He is a Princeton University graduate and author of Teach Yourself e-Trading Today.
CBS-owned WOIO-TV in Cleveland, Ohio has hired Kendall Forward is a reporter. She previously spent four years at WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio, and before that worked for One America News Network in Washington D.C. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism.
Leah Jordon has joined the expanding Spectrum News Kentucky team in Louisville as the new morning anchor. Previously, she was an anchor and reporter at WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, and before that worked for KULR-TV in Billings, Montana.
