The Bloomberg team in London has promoted one of its staff, and changed coverage for another:

  • Neil Callanan has been promoted to London bureau chief. He has been a team lead at the bureau since 2015, and joined the staff as a reporter in 2011. Before that, he spent three years at The Sunday Tribune as business editor. 
  • Reporter Alastair Marsh now covers blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In the last five years he reported on bonds, and before that covered structured notes. He has been with Bloomberg since 2012, and prior to that worked for FT Tilt. 

Washington Post sports writer Jesse Dougherty has picked up the baseball beat, and now covers the Washington Nationals for the paper. He was previously writing about high school sports, and joined the staff in 2017. Prior to that, he interned at the Los Angeles Times. 

John Ketchum has been hired by AfroTech as managing editor. He comes from SB Nation, where he spent the last year as deputy editor. Before that, he was an associate producer for CNN , and an assistant editor/producer at NPR. AfroTech focuses on black innovators and entrepreneurs. 

After almost 14 years at the Washington Business JournalJennifer Nycz-Conner has departed from her position as special projects producer./editor at large. She was responsible for creating new editorial-based ideas, products, partnerships and programs across organization. She has accepted a position at Hilton Hotels & Resorts to be director of brand communications. h/t Talking Biz News 

Gwendolyn Plummer has joined Vision Monday as assistant editor. She comes from a brief stint as a writer at Our Thinking, and before that worked at LittleThings as a writer. Plummer is a 2017 graduate from Skidmore College, with a degree in English and literature. Vision Monday provides news and information about the people, products, marketing and events that drive the eyecare industry. 

Virginia Prescott has taken over as host of Georgia Public Radio's "Two Way Street" and "On Second Thought" shows, after the recent departure of Bill Nigut. She leads the on-air content and direction of both programs, and comes from a ten-year tenure as host on New Hampshire Public Radio. 

Facebook Watch has launched the new daily news show, NowThisMorning, which centers on breaking news and topical stories, and aims to spark conversations on the core issues that matter most to young adults today. Ashley Ennis has been named head booker of the show. 

Longtime KHOU-TV anchor/reporter Sherry Williams has parted ways with the Houston CBS affiliate, after almost a decade at the station; her last day was Aug 31. Williams has left broadcast journalism all together with no word where she is headed next. 

Los Angeles entertainment journalist, Carly Henderson, has joined Chicago's WCIU-TV's The Jam as co-host. She is the show's third co-host and joins Felicia Lawrence and Jordan Cornette from 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. Henderson has previously worked for E! News, MTV and HollyWire. She replaces Danielle Robay, who left the show in June.
