Mary Suh has joined the editorial team at AtlanticLIVE as a senior editor. She was a longtime New York Times staffer, who had spent more than two decades at the paper in various positions, most recently as a deputy culture editor. AtlanticLIVE is The Atlantic’s events division, and is responsible for shaping the content for The Atlantic’s live events journalism, which comes to life across more than 100 annual events on stages around the world. 

Out magazine has named Phillip Picardi editor in chief, effective December 2018. He succeeds Aaron Hicklin, who announced his departure from Out earlier this month. Picardi is the star editor of Condé Nast, who quickly rose through the ranks of the organization and was named Teen Vogue's chief content officer in January. He started at Teen Vogue as an intern, then worked his way up to digital editorial director, and most recently chief content officer. 

Veteran journalists Brian Ross and Rhonda Schwartz have joined the Law & Crime Network, as an investigative reporter and executive investigative producer, respectively. They will lead a new investigative team and launch a weekly show, “Brian Ross Investigates.” Ross previously spent more than two decades at ABC News as an investigative reporter and chief investigative correspondent. Schwartz also comes from ABC News, where she worked as a chief of investigative projects.

Bloomberg News has parted ways with three reporters across the organization: 

  • Olivier Monnier was a reporter mostly covering the Ivory Coast out of  Côte d'Ivoire. He was previously a freelancer for La Croix and IRIN News. He left Bloomberg to become an independent journalist. 
  • David M. Levitt was a commercial real estate reporter and covered deals over $100 million. He had been with Bloomberg since 2007, and before that worked for the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists as president. 
  • Brian Louis was a reporter covering trading, including local trading firms, futures options, high frequency trading, some regulation and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), for Bloomberg News in Chicago. He has been with the news service since 2006.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has reduced its print issues to five days a week, eliminating the print editions on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The paper cited higher operating costs and its full commitment to the digital delivery of news for the switch. The circulation cut went into effect the week of Aug. 26.

Christopher D. Santilli has been named publisher of the Hartford Business Journal. He comes from Providence Public Schools where he led talent recruitment. He also spent more than 15 years at Providence Business News as VP of sales and marketing. 

ABC-owned  WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio has hired Sean McGarvy as news director. He comes from KMGH-TV in Denver, where he spent the last year as assistant news director. Before that, he served as the managing editor at KDVR-TV in Denver and WXIN-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana.   

Mark Neerman has been brought on by CBS-owned KPIX-TV in San Francisco as news director. He was previoulsy the news director of KSNV-TV in Las Vegas for four years, and before that lead the newsroom of WHAS-TV in Louisville, Kentucky, as the executive news director.
