The San Francisco Chronicle has hired Melia Russell as a reporter, covering the people and companies in tech industry.  Her first day was Sept. 17. Russell comes from Business Insider, where she spent five years covering venture capital, consumer tech, apps, marketplaces, robotics, real estate, food, tech culture. She also helped jump-start Tech Insider. 

Reporter Samantha Schmidt has switched beats and now covers social issues surrounding gender and families for The Washington Post. She was previously a Morning Mix reporter for the paper, and joined the staff in 2016. Before that, she was a James Reston reporting fellow for The New York Times.  

Gabby Morrongiello will leave her reporting position at the Washington Examiner to join POLITICO as a White House reporter in October. She has covered candidate and, later, President Trump for more than three years, and has also worked as Washington bureau chief for the New York Post. 

Longtime "60 Minutes" executive producer Jeffrey Fager has excited CBS after allegations of sexual misconduct. He had been with the network since 1989, working in an array of positions, including senior broadcast producer and chairman of CBS News, a position he had taken over in 2011. Bill Owens, who has served as executive editor of 60 Minutes since 2008, will take over on an interim basis.

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal has brought on Alex Wittenberg is a reporter covering residential real estate, homebuilding, manufacturing, advertising and public relations firms and diversity in business. He is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science. While at the U, he was online editor at The Wake Student Magazine. 

Caroline Hyde has moved from London to New York to leads the on-air content and direction of Bloomberg Television's “Bloomberg Markets: Americas” and “What’d you Miss?” as a co-host. She was previously co-host of “BloombergMarkets” from London, and has been with  Bloomberg since 2008.  

Fox News Channel senior correspondent Adam Housley has left the network at the end of August. He joined Fox News in 2001 as an LA-based senior correspondent, and has reported from all over the globe during his 17-year run at the network.

Julie Chen, co-host of CBS's The Talk, has decided to exit the network after eight years as co-host of the daytime show. She will continue to be the host of the CBS reality show "Big Brother." Chen has been with CBS since 1999, and has also worked as anchor and host of CBS This Morning and The Early Show. 

The Fundera Ledger has named Sally Lauckner managing editor. She comes from SmartAsset, where she spent the last two years as senior editor. Prior to that, she was a news editor for HuffPost. Hosted by Fundera, a financial institution that facilitates lending and financing for small businesses, the Fundera Ledger blog discusses business advice and financial news.

Sam Grobart is the new premium editor for Quartz, overseeing coverage of news, business, government and politics. He was previously the executive editor for CNN Tech, and prior to that spent five years at Bloomberg Businessweek as managing editor. Before that, he covered technology for The New York Times.
