Kyle Buchanan has joined the Culture desk of The New York Times as a reporter covering pop culture and entertainment, and a columnist penning the Carpetbagger column, which covers entertainment awards. He is based in the Los Angeles bureau. Buchanan was previously with Vulture for eight years, most recently as senior editor.
USA Today has hired Michelle Maltais as consumer editor and will helm coverage on retail, food, and personal technology. She comes from the Los Angeles Times, where she spent two decades in a variety of positions, most recently as deputy director for audience engagement. She was also part of the team that won a Pulitzer for breaking news coverage of the San Bernardino terrorist attack.
Taylor Tepper has joined Wirecutter as a senior reporter. He was previously a writer at Bankrate and wrote on financial planning topics, and before that spent four years at Money magazine where he covered credit cards, banking, and investing. He has also worked at Bloomberg News and Tampa Bay Times.

CNN's Donie O'Sullivan has switched jobs at the network, and now is a reporter covering the intersection of technology and politics. He is part of the CNNMoney team and works closely with CNN's investigative unit tracking and identifying online disinformation campaigns targeting the American electorate. O'Sullivan was previously a producer at CNN, and joined the staff in 2016.
CBS-owned KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has parted ways with consumer reporter Marty Griffin, who hosted the popular segments "Get Marty", which featured consumer assistance topics. He had been with the station since 2003. Griffin will remain the host of "The Inside Story" on KDKA-AM radio.
Shawn Quinn has left KCJK-FM alternative rock radio in Kansas City, Missouri. He joined the station in 2016 as AM-drive on-air personality, and recently moved to PM-drive. Prior to that, he was a brand manager for WTMT-FM in Asheville, North Carolina.
Jazz radio KNKX-FM in Tacoma, Washington has named Carol Handley director of music programming, effective Aug. 20. She replaces Nick Francis, who has retired. She was previously an interim GM at Bellevue Community College variety KBCS in Seattle.
Jorge Barbosa has signed off from Univision's WBGO-TV in Chicago after three decades with the network. He was the anchor of the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. He has been with the station since 1995, when he joined the staff after he spent 10 years as a news anchor and reporter at former Univision affiliate WCIU-Channel 26.
