The New York Times will add two new correspondents in November:
- Annie Karni, who is currently on staff at POLITICO, will join the NYTimes as White House correspondent. At POLITICO, she covered Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the first two years of the Trump presidency. Before that, she was a political reporter for the New York Daily News.
- Jill Cowan, who currently covers the Texas economy for The Dallas Morning News, will join the NYTimes as correspondent for the California Today newsletter. She has previously worked at The Bakersfield Californian, The Los Angeles Times and The Daily Pilot.
Paul Haven has been promoted to global director of top stories for the Associated Press, covering top national and international news. He has been with the AP since 1994, and most recently served as news director for Latin America and the Caribbean out of the newswire's Mexico City bureau. Throughout the years, Haven has also served as bureau chief in Havana, Pakistan and Madrid, as well as investigative team leader.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle has brought on Alexandra Gailey as a reporter covering airports and restaurants. She is a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and spent the summer interning on the business news desk of the Boston Globe. She has also interned at the Charlotte Business Journal.
Catherine Stupp is the newest cybersecurity reporter at The Wall Street Journal Pro. She was previously at Euractiv in Brussels, where she covered European tech policy. She began her career as a freelance writer in Berlin, and covered German politics, technology, energy and the start of Europe’s migration crisis. Her work has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Inside Climate News, and Al Jazeera.
Fox Nation has hired conservative political commentator, Tomi Lahren, as host of the segment "Final Thoughts," airing daily at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. She was previously a contributor to FOX News Channel for less than a year. FOX Nation is the network's subscription-based digital streaming service.
PROVOKR has hired Amber Rodriguez as fashion editor. She was previously a fashion accessories contributing editor for InStyle for six years. Before that, she contributed to O, The Oprah Magazine, WWD Accessories Magazine, and Glamour.
Medium has welcomed Jessica Valenti as a columnist writing about feminism, culture and politics. She was previously a contributor for Marie Claire online, and before that worked for the Guardian as a columnist. She is also the founder and editor of Feministing.
NBC-'s WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, has added two new staff members to its newsroom:
- Mia O'Brien has joined as sports anchor and reporter. She was previously a sports reporter at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. O'Brien is a 2015 graduate of Ithaca College in New York state.
- Haddie Djemal has left KABB-TV to join WTLV-TV's First Coast Living show, as host and producer covering regional interests and lifestyle. She has also worked for KPRC-TV in Houston, the Discovery Channel and the Disney Company.
