Isaac Chotiner will join The New Yorker in January 2019 as a staff writer and anchor of “The New Yorker Interview," a conversation series on the magazine’s site. He comes from Slate, where he most recently served as a staff writer. Before that, he worked for The New Republic as senior editor.
The Atlantic has hired Amanda Mull as staff writer covering health, including the beauty and nutrition industries. She will continue her role as managing editor of the PurseBlog, a position she has held since 2009. Mull holds a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia.
Timothy Bella is the new deputy editor for the Washington Post's Morning Mix. He has spent the last few years as a freelance writer based in Brooklyn, writing for Esquire, The Atlantic, New York Magazine and ESPN’s The Undefeated, among other publications.Bella has also worked as a producer/reporter for Al Jazeera America and web producer for CBS News.
The New York Times digital has promoted Charo Henriquez to senior editor for digital strategy, upped from senior editor for digital storytelling. Before the NYT, Henriquez worked for Time Inc, as executive digital editor for two years. Prior to that, he served as innovations editor for GFR Media.
Current president and publisher of the Charlotte Business Journal, Kevin Pitts, will relocate to Denver in mid-November to helm the Denver Business Journal as president and publisher. He succeeds Pete Casillas, who was recently promoted to oversee a number of business journals. Pitts joined ACBJ in 2000 as ad director at the Philadelphia Business Journal and quickly moved up through the ranks to become publisher of several publications. He has been the publisher of CBJ since 2009.
Meghan Morris is the new reporter for Business Insider covering asset management. She comes from Private Equity International, where she served as a senior reporter for three years. Business Insider serves as an online business news resource dedicated to aggregating, reporting and analyzing the top stories from the Web.
The Sacramento Bee will welcome Theresa Clift as City Hall reporter, effective Oct. 29. She is currently finishing up her duties a reporter at TribLIVE, a position she has held since 2016. Before that, Clift worked as a reporter for the Daily Press, Wasau Daily Herald and Central Michigan Life.
Julie Hyman has joined Yahoo! Finance as anchor covering financial markets. She comes from Bloomberg Television, where she spent the bulk of her career and most recently served as senior markets correspondent. She joined Bloomberg in 2001 as stocks reporter. Before that, she worked for the Washington Times as business reporter.
ABC's KAKE-TV in Wichita, Kansas has moved Alyson Acklin to the morning news team as morning news anchor, effective Oct. 8. She has been anchoring the station's 11 a.m. Good Morning KAKE and show and KAKE News at 4 p.m., and has been with the news team since 2016. Before that, she reported for KTEN-TV in Ada, Oklahoma.
Mark Casey has been named news director for KNXV-TV, the ABC station in Phoenix, Arizona. He previously served as vice president and station manager for NBC's KPNX-TV in Phoenix, and had been with the station since 1999.
