The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee, has hired two new business reporters:
- Desiree Stennett has joined the staff as business reporter covering growth and development. She was previously a senior writer for The Penny Hoarder, and before that spent five years at the Orlando Sentinel as breaking news reporter.
- Max Garland is the new business reporter covering FedEx, logistics and healthcare. He comes from the Charleston Gazette-Mail, where he spent the last two years as a business reporter.
Brian Baxter has been named managing editor, Tri-State at The Real Deal, covering Westchester County/Fairfield, New Jersey, Long Island and The Hamptons. He spent the last 12 years at ALM Media in a variety of positions, including senior reporter, deputy editor, and most recently, senior editor of Business of Law.
Politico Pro has tapped Eleanor Mueller as a reporter. She has moved to the Politico Pro legislative compass team covering politics, campaigns, elections and federal legislation. Mueller was most recently a web producer and copy editor for Politico, a position she has held since January 2018. Before that, she served as a web producer for Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Matt Reed is the new overnight homepage editor for The Washington Post's Universal Desk. He comes from Visa, where he spent the last year as a senior editor. Before that, he spend two decades at the Associated Press including at the West regional editing desk in Phoenix for six years, and as a reporter in AP’s Columbus, Ohio, bureau before that. Reed also helmed The Cambodia Daily as an editor in chief for four years.
Verywell, the online destinations that covers all aspects of personal health and wellness, has hired Mandy Rich as health editor covering buying guides and product roundups. She was most recently with Weight Watchers Magazine, where she served as an editorial coordinator and associate editor.
Seventeen magazine will cut down its print offerings in the New Year, changing its bimonthly schedule to a few special issues a year. Inasmuch as Hearst magazines is moving toward a digital-first strategy, Seventeen will continue to print “special stand-alone issues pegged to news events and key moments in readers’ lives.”
Alexis McAdams has joined ABC Chicago's WLS-TV as a reporter. She comes from WXIN-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she worked as a reporter for two years. Before that, she served as the weekend anchor for WTVO-TV, in Rockford, Illinois.
KDMX-FM radio in Dallas has promoted Brooke Morrison to late night on-air personality, taking the weekdays 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. timeslot. Morrison began her career at KCOU at the University of Missouri as an on-air DJ and has also been heard on WHQC in Charlotte, North Carolina and KSLZ in St. Louis, Missouri.
Orlando Rosa is the new program director for WBZY-FM radio in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the former president of OnR Broadcast Consulting Services, and before that spent seven years at Rivera Communications as operations manager and program director.
