The New York Times Washington bureau has added Catie Edmondson as a reporter focusing on politics. She was previously a James Reston reporting fellow at The Times, and before that served as the editor in chief of the Columbia Daily Spectator, the student newspaper of Columbia University.
The Baghdad bureau of The New York Times will welcome back Alissa J. Rubin as bureau chief in January 2019. She will return to Iraq after having served as the Paris bureau chief for the last five years. Rubin has been with The Time since 2007, when she joined as a military correspondent/bureau chief in the Baghdad bureau.
Joyann King has been promoted to executive director of HarpersBAZAAR.com, upped from a site director. She joined the team in 2010 as senior web editor, and before that worked for InStyle.com as a fashion news writer, and Shopbop.com as editor at large. The Verge has brought on Kevin Nguyen as the new features editor. He joins the staff from GQ, where he most recently served as senior editor. Before that, he was the editorial director at Google Play Books and Oyster. He has also written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Awl, and The New Republic, among others.
Melissa Mangini has been promoted to editor at the Albany Business Review. She joined the outlet in 2012 as creative director, and most recently served as the managing editor. Mangini has been instrumental in the transition of the Business Review to a digital news operation while overseeing the paper's weekly edition.
Crain's Chicago Business will part ways with Michael Arndt, effective Nov. 30. Arndt has been the editor of the paper since 2012, and joined the staff in 2010 as managing editor. Before that he worked briefly for Bloomberg News as news editor. Will Muoio has joined Real Estate Finance & Investment as a capital markets reporter. He writes about the financing in commercial real estate, whether that's on new, refinanced or other projects. He was previously a lead sports producer for TheNewsHouse.com covering SU women's lacrosse since 2017.
CNBC has welcomed Tyler Clifford as news associate/writer. He joined the staff from Crain's Detroit Business, where he spent the past year-and-a-half as breaking news reporter. Prior to that, he served as the director of special projects at the Democratic National Committee in North Carolina.
