Axios has announced the addition of a reporter and an editor:
- Dion Rabouin is the new markets reporter for Axios and the writer of the Axios Markets newsletter. He comes from Yahoo Finance, where he was a markets reporter for a year. Prior to that, he spent three years at Reuters.
- Meghann Marco has joined the staff as editor overseeing the Deep Dive newsletter. She was previously the editor of content strategy at The Wall Street Journal, and before that spent more than a decade at Consumer Reports in various positions.
Michael Schneider will rejoin Variety Jan. 1 as senior editor covering TV awards. Most recently, he served as the executive editor for IndieWire, a position he has held since 2016. Before that, he was an editor at large at Variety and also helmed content strategy at TV Guide Magazine as chief content officer.
CNBC will launch "Exchange" Jan. 7, a one-hour show focusing on in-depth reporting on topics and issues of interest to investors. It will air from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern. The following staff will be part of the new program:
- Kelly Evans has been named anchor of the show. She is currently co-anchoring CNBC's "Closing Bell," and has been with the network since 2012, when she joined as a reporter. Before that, she worked for The Wall Street Journal.
- Sandy Cannold will be the executive producer of the new show, in addition to his duties as executive producer of CNBC's "Power Lunch." He has been with the network since 2014, when he joined the staff as the executive poirducer of "Squawk Box."
Caitlin Hu will join CNN International in January as senior digital editor based in New York. She was most recently the geopolitics news editor at Quartz, a position she has held since November 2017. She joined Quartz in 2015 as visual culture editor, and before that spent fours years at Colors magazine.
The "Today" show on NBC will bid farewell to Kathy Lee Gifford in April. She has hosted the final hour of the broadcast alongside Hoda Kotb since 2008. Gifford previously co-hosted "Live" opposite Regis Philbin for 11 years. She left that show in 2000 and joined "Today."
After 23 years, The Weekly Standard has shut down, effective Dec 17. The magazine reflected the opinions and concerns of conservatives on key subject matters including religious liberty, regulation and tax cuts. It was founded under News Corp and published its first issue in September 1995. Clarity Media Group acquired the title in 2009.
"Ty, Kelly & Chuck," the syndicated show that airs weekdays 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on WestoodOne, and focuses on contemporary country music and news, will relaunch Jan. 7 as "The Ty Bentli Show." The change comes after the exit of co-host Kelly Ford in October. Chuck Wicks will continue in his role while an expanded group of “friends and characters” will be added to the show.
Eli Roberts has joined NBC's KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as weeknight anchor. He will anchor the station’s 4, 5, and 6:30 p.m newscasts. Roberts most recently served a the breaking news anchor at Israel’s 24/7 news channel i24News, and before that worked at WEVV-TV in Evansville, Indiana, as anchor/reporter.
