The New York Times has announced the addition of one new staffer and the promotion of two other:

  • Dan Saltzstein has been promoted to editorial director of special projects. He was most recently a travel editor for the paper, and before that spent a decade as the digital arts editor. Saltzstein has been with The Times since 1999. 
  • Kathleen Lingo has moved to paper's newsroom to serve as the first editorial director for film and TV, where she will play a key role in shaping what The Times looks like on screen. She has been with the outlet since 2013, and and has ran the Op-Docs for the past three years. Before joining The Times, she worked on documentary projects for HBO, WNYC, the IFC channel.
  • Alex Kingsbury has joined The Times's editorial board as senior staff editor; his first day was Nov. 12. He comes from The Boston Globe, where he most recently served as deputy ideas editor. At The Globe he guided several of the editorial page’s most ambitious multimedia, enterprise projects, including the  #FreePress effort. He will play a similar role at The Times, as well as regularly write editorials. He will also work on tech coverage.

"Make It", CNBC's financial show about how to earn, save and spend your money, has hired two producers and a writer:

  • Kerri Anne Renzulli has been hired as careers writer. Previously, she was a reporter at Money magazine where she covered family finances, retirement, careers and behavioral finance. She also helped launch in 2014 and was their first digital reporter. 
  • Jon Fazio is a new associate producer for the Make It video team. He previously held a variety of producer and editor roles at the National Women’s Soccer League, Westwood One Radio Sports and the MLB and NHL Networks, where he won four Sports Emmy Awards. 
  • Claire Nolan joins as an associate producer on the Make It video team. Prior to that, she worked at Time Inc., where she started as a production associate for video-based personal finance brand Coinage before moving on to producing video content for Money, Fortune and TIME.

Brett McKeehan is the new director of digital for CNN Asia Pacific. He works closely with CNN’s digital teams in London, Abu Dhabi, New York and Atlanta. He is based in Hong Kong. McKeehan was previously a digital director for the South China Morning Post, and before that worked for News Corp Australia. 

ABC Radio has launched a new podcast hosted by ABC News senior national correspondent Paula Faris, titled “Journeys of Faith with Paula Faris.” The podcast examines the notion that faith is the core and foundation for so many, yet no two faith journeys look alike.The first season will feature 10 episodes, posting every Wednesday. Episodes will be available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, Spotify, Stitcher and the ABC News app.   

Curtis McLoud has joined Spectrum News 13 in Orlando, Florida, as an investigative reporter. He comes from WJHL-TV in the Tri-Cities, where he served as investigative reporter and evening co-anchor for 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. newscasts. Before that, he spent two years at  WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia as a general assignment reporter.
