Alexandra Svokos has joined ABC News as digital news editor. She previously had a brief stint at Bustle as a news editor, and before that spent three years at Elite Daily as a senior news editor. Svokos is also a freelancer and her work has appeared at Vox, The Daily Beast, Glamour, Quartz, and Refinery 29, among others. 

The New York Times Hong Kong bureau has welcomed Andy Parsons as a news editor on the international desk. He has been with The Times since 2008, and has been an editor in the Washington bureau since 2012. In 2016, he was tapped for the role of weekend editor. Before The Times, Parsons worked for the Washington Post. 

CNBC Digital has added two new producers to its video staff, both working on news and programming content: 

  • Charlotte Morabito has joined the video team as an associate producer. She was previously with Vox Media where she  worked on the digital show “The Divided States of Women” as associate producer. Before that, she interned at MSNBC and "The Rachel Maddow Show." 
  • Natalie Zhang  has also joined the video team as an associate producer. She comes from WGBH-FM in Boston, where she served as a social media producer. Before that, she interned at the Los Angeles Business Journal and USA Today. 

Hannah Mitchell has left the Orange County Business Journal, where she served as the managing editor since 2013. Before that, she was an associate editor for the Los Angeles Daily Journal, and prior to that covered city and county government, and business and development for the Charlotte Observer for ten years. 

The San Antonio Business Journal has brought on Jessica Corso as energy reporter, effective Jan. 7; she replaces Sergio Chapa. Corso comes from Law260, where she spent the last four years as senior courts reporter and reported from the Chicago federal courthouse. 

Michelle Castillo is a the new senior reporter with the Scoops team at Cheddar. She covers advertising and media during the digital age, which includes the advertising and media businesses of Facebook, Google, Snap, Twitter, Netflix, Amazon, Apple and Hulu, among others. Castillo was previously a tech reporter for CNBC, and a digital media reporter for Adweek before that.  

Boston's country station WKLB-FM has launched "Jackson & Ayla Brown," a music and news show airing weekdays from 5:30 a.m to 9 a.m. Co-host Ayla Brown is a former Boston College basketball star and was a finalist on season five of “American Idol."  Jackson Blue serves as co-host and is also the late night on-air personality for WAYV-FM in West Atlantic City, New Jersey.
