Politico is staffing its Capitol Hill team and has hired two new Congressional reporters, and shifted coverage from Congress to the 2020 campaign for another:
Tony Romm has joined MSNBC and NBC News as a contributor. He is also a technology policy reporter for the Washington Post and covers tech giants Apple, Facebook and Google and their intersection with government policy. Romm has previously worked for Recode as senior politics and policy editor, and Politico as senior tech reporter.
The Dallas Morning News has promoted Dom DiFurio to business reporter. He spent the last three years as a web producer of the editorial page of the paper, where he built and engaged audiences around news and news analysis content. Before that, he served as an investigative reporter for News21 and produced in-depth Investigative reporting on marijuana legalization and regulation across the U.S. as a Reynolds Fellow.
Elizabeth Turner has been upped to senior producer at CBS News' CBS Evening News program. She was previously a supervising producer for CBS News This Morning, a position she has held since she joined the network in 2013. Before that she worked as a news producer for WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia and WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Variety has hired Rebecca Davis as China bureau chief. She comes from Agence France-Presse, where she served as a correspondent since 2015. Before that, she worked as a researcher for Le Monde and a freelance writer for The New York Times.
Frank Wright has been promoted to content director at WXLC-FM radio in Waukegan, Illinois. He is also a mid-day drive personality and can be heard on-air weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wright has been filling in as program director and operations manager since Haynes Johns left the station in October.
KTVT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Fort Worth, Texas, has brought on Kim Cung as a reporter. She comes from WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Virginia, where she spent the last three years as a general assignment reporter. She is also the founder and blogger at Color & Chic.
Susana Schuler has joined NBC's WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama, as general manager and president, effective Jan. 1. She succeeds Henry “Hank” Price, who retired at the end of 2018. Schuler was previously the executive vice present of content and operations at Raycom Media, and before that served as vice president of news and senior vice president of news at the company.
