Helen Coster has joined the media and telecoms team at Reuters as media correspondent. She will write high impact spot and enterprise stories with a focus on how technology is transforming the media and entertainment industries. Coster has been with the newswires since 2013, when she joined the commentary team as a senior editor. Prior to Reuters, she worked as a senior writer at Forbes, where she reported on a wide range of enterprise and breaking news topics.
Fox News has hired Aishah Hasnie as an overnight anchor and news correspondent, effective Feb. 18. She was previously an anchor and investigative reporter at WXIN-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana, a position she has held for seven years. Before that, Hasnie was an investigative reporter and anchor at WANE-TV in Fort Wayne.
Jeff Horwitz has moved to The Wall Street Journal as a reporter covering Facebook. He is based out of the Journal's San Francisco bureau. Horwitz comes from the Associated Press, where he spent the last five years reporting on government, regulation, business and markets. Before that, he worked for American Banker magazine for five years covering the financial services industry, often with an investigative bent.
The Columbia Daily Tribune in Missouri has recruited Philip Joens as a business and economic development reporter. He most recently served as a business reporter for the Jefferson City News Tribune and covered politics, agriculture, energy, tech, startups, retail, construction, and housing. Before that, he served as the tech editor for Pacific Coast Business Times in California.
Micah Singleton has joined Medium as senior tech editor, platform. He was most recently news editor at The Verge in charge of tech news operations. Prior to that he spent time writing for The Daily Dot as senior writer, and Gizmodo as a contributor before that.
Quill, the magazine of the Society of Professional Journalists, has named Lou Harry editor and program manager. He most recently served as the arts and entertainment editor for the Indianapolis Business Journal. Harry is also a former editor at Philadelphia magazine and Indianapolis Monthly, and has also served as editor in chief of Indy Men's Magazine.
Diana Cannizzaro is the newest sports reporter for Jersey Sports Zone. She spent the last two years as sports reporter/anchor at KAAL-TV in Austin, Minnesota, and before that worked as a radio host/reporter at WSTC-AM in Stamford, Connecticut, and a field reporter for Vantage Sports Network before that.
CW-affiliated KIAH-TV in Houston, has welcomed Shannon LaNier as a host of the "Morning Dose" show. He was previously the host of "Arise Entertainment 360” on BET/Centric, and is also a former weekend morning anchor at Fios1 News in New York.
Max McGee has joined WJZ-TV, the CBS-owned station in Baltimore, Maryland, as a weekend anchor and sports reporter. He comes from WMBF-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he spent the last two years as an anchor/reporter. Prior to that, he spent a year as a producer and reporter for Raycom Media in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
WCPT-AM talk radio station in Chicago has brought on Paul Chivari as producer for the open afternoon show. He is a former host, producer and reporter for SportsTownChicago.com, and a program director of TheEdgeOnAir.com.
