Carol Rosenberg has joined The New York Times as a reporter covering Guantánamo Bay and other important national security stories. She comes from the Miami Herald – now part of McClatchy – where she most recently served as military affairs correspondent covering the U.S. Navy base Guantanamo, the Southern Command, the Florida National Guard, Defense strategy and policy in the region.

The Washington Post has announced several upcoming staff moves across some of its bureaus, as well as a new Retropolis writer:

  • Gillian Brockell is now a writer of Retropolis, the paper’s history blog. She has worked at The Post for five years as a video editor, first on the National desk and then for Post Opinions.
  • Danielle Paquette has been named West Africa bureau chief, a new role created as part of The Post’s international expansion. She will relocate there in May, when the bureau opens. Paquette has been a financial reporter since 2014, when she joined the paper from LA Weekly.
  • Loveday Morris, current bureau chief in Jerusalem, will become Berlin bureau chief, effective this summer. She has been with The Post since 2013 when she joined as a Beirut-based correspondent. She became Baghdad bureau chief in 2015, and moved on to Jerusalem in 2017, covering Israel and the Palestinians.

Rahel Solomon has been tapped as general assignment reporter for CNBC and starts in late March. She comes from CBS-3 in Philadelphia, where she spent the last two years as an anchor. She joined the staff in 2015 as a reporter from KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado.

Airline Weekly has named Madhu Unnikrishnan its new editor. He comes from corporate communications of United Airlines, and previously served as managing editor for Aviation Daily, and a business editor and senior editor of Aviation Week.

George Kalogerakis has been named deputy editor of Air Mail, the digital news platform created by former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter. Kalogerakis has been a deputy op-ed editor at the New York Times for over a decade. Air Mail launches in the summer and focuses on the world outside of America, including politics, business, the environment, the arts, literature, film and television, food, design, travel, architecture, society, fashion, and crime.

Town & Country has bid farewell to Nicoletta Santoro, the longtime creative director of the publication. Before joining T&C, she was international director at large of Vogue China and had worked within Condé Nast editorial for many years. Stints included Vogue Italian and Vogue Paris and she contributed to Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, as well.

Jesse Salazar has been promoted to assistant program director at KBFB-FM radio in Dallas. He will continue his duties as music director and afternoon talent. Salazar joined the station in 2012 as a midday host.

Courtney Cole has been promoted to weekend morning anchor and reporter for Fox-owned WFOX-TV and WJAX-TV in Jacksonville, Florida. She has been on staff since March 2018 as a reporter, and previously worked for WSAV-TV in Savannah, Georgia.
