Kris Frieswick has been named deputy editor of The Wall Street Journal's Mansion section, covering luxury real estate. She was most recently the executive editor of Inc. magazine, and since 2002 has also been a freelancer writer who specializes in business and finance. Her work has appeared in Far & Away Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Men's Health, Redbook, Hemispheres, Departures, the WSJ Magazine, the Economist, and many others.
The Associated Press has named Jocelyn Noveck reporter covering gender politics, feminism and the #metoo movement. She was previously a culture and features writer for the AP and an original member of the #metoo coverage team who has chronicled the movement since its inception. Noveck also broke news about how #metoo influenced the Kavanaugh hearings.
Marc Malkin has been promoted to senior film awards editor at Variety. He was most recently the events and lifestyle editor at the outlet and will retain his current duties overseeing red-carpet events and the publication’s lifestyle section. In his expanded role, he will provide daily, on-the-spot awards news, features and analysis for Variety.com as well as the weekly magazine and video production team. Malkin will also write a weekly column throughout the film awards season and host Variety’s “Playback” awards podcast.
Dan Arnall has been promoted to executive editor of MSNBC daytime programming and will focus his efforts on editorial and programming strategy for MSNBC’s live news programming. He most recently served as the “NBC Nightly News Weekend” executive producer and joined the staff in 2016. Prior to that, he was Bloomberg’s deputy head of global television, and before that, he spent nearly a decade at ABC News, including a run as senior producer of “World News with Diane Sawyer.”
S&P Global Marketing Intelligence reporter Ellen Meyers has moved to a new beat and now covers Southeastern utilities and power finance. She previously reported on renewable energy and has been with the outlet since 2017. Before that she interned at the Dallas Moring News, The Christian Science Monitor and the Central New York Business Journal.
Nicole Gaudiano has joined Politico and Politico Pro as national education reporter covering K-12 policy, school safety, and early childhood education. She comes from USA Today, where she spent the last 13 years reporting on Congress and politics. Before that, she worked for Air Force Times where she covered military justice, Air Force policy and leadership and the Air Force space program.
The Washington Post has tapped Brent Griffiths as a researcher for Power Up and The Finance 202, effective March 18. He comes from Politico, where he has worked as a web producer, helping enhance the digital impact of stories, handling social media accounts and covering breaking news. He will be a contributing writer on the latest edition of the Almanac of American Politics due out this summer.
Javier David has joined Yahoo Finance as editor covering financial markets and the global economy. He comes from CNBC Digital, where he most recently worked as senior editor. Prior to that, David worked as a reporter for Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal.
Annual Reviews has named Anna Rascouët-Paz engagement editor. She is responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to support researchers, policymakers, field-workers, observers, and other audience members by providing science-based context and analysis to news stories. Rascouët-Paz has been in the U.S. since 2010 and most recently served as Annual Reviews’ Online Media Editor, after six years at Bloomberg News in London.
Stella Inger Escobedo is the new morning news anchor for KFMB-TV, the CBS/CQ affiliate in San Diego, California. She joined the staff March 4 and is on air weekdays at 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. on CBS 8, 7-9 a.m. on CW San Diego, and back on CBS 8 at 11 a.m. till noon. She comes from KGUN-TV in Tucson, Arizona, where she spent five years as the anchor of the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. Prior to that, she anchored mornings for KPSP-TV in Palm Springs, California.
