Daffodil Altan will join PBS Frontline as a California-based investigative producer/correspondent. She has previously produced the award-winning Frontline diamantaires Rape on the Night Shift, and Goldsmith Prize Finalist, Trafficked in America. Before that, Altan was a producer at the US Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism’s Investigative Reporting Program, and has also reported for MSNBC, Telemundo and PBS NewsHour.
The Hill has welcomed Al Weaver as a national political reporter. He will also work on the Morning Report newsletter. Weaver comes from the Washington Examiner where he spent three years as a political reporter. Before that he worked for The Daily Caller.
Ines Ferre is the new markets reporter for Yahoo Finance. She was previously with WCAU-TV in Philadelphia for three years and worked as a bilingual investigative consumer reporter. Ferre has also worked for WWSI-TV. Al Jzeera America, and CBS MoneyWatch.
New York magazine has hired Marisa Carroll as features editor, effective March 18. She serves as an enterprise editor for both the print editions of New York and its digital properties, including The Cut and Vulture. Carroll comes from BuzzFeed News, where she was deputy national editor and covered gender, criminal justice, and immigration. She has also held roles at Marie Claire, Guernica, and The Nation.
The co-founder of Vanity Fair’s site The Hive, Jon Kelly, has left the company. He launched The Hive in 2015, and before that worked for The New York Times Magazine as a book editor. He has also held positions at Bloomberg Businessweek and Vanity Fair. Replacing Kelly as The Hive’s editor is John Homans, who has served as the site’s executive editor since 2017.
The Washington Business Journal has brought on Alex Koma as a reporter covering developments across D.C. He comes from ARLaw.com, where he served as managing editor since April 2018 and covered government, crime, and politics. Before that, she worked at InsideNoVa as multimedia reporter and StateScoop as a staff reporter.
Julianne Cuba has joined Streetsblog as a reporter. She was previously a reporter for The Brooklyn Paper. Cuba has also interned at HealthDay News and CBS News. Streetsblog is the nations leading transit, cycling and pedestrian outlet. It promotes the transformation of urban areas by reducing dependence on private automobiles and improving conditions for cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders.
ABC’s WTVD-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina, has recruited Erik Webb as a morning producer. He is a 2019 graduate of Elon University and has previously served as a producer for Elon Local News, the student newscast at Elon University. He was also an intern at CNN.
