American Banker has welcomed Jon Prior as a reporter. He comes from the Dallas Business Journal where he spent three years as a reporter. Before that, Prior covered housing finance policy, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and HUD for Politico, and covered lending for HousingWire before that.
Hanna Trudo has joined The Daily Beast in Washington, D.C., as a 2020 campaign reporter. She most recently was national politics reporter at National Journal and before that worked for Politico as a web producer and Wired as editorial fellow.
AdAge has recruited Lindsay Rittenhouse as a reporter covering agencies. She was previously a staff writer at Adweek and before that covered high-profile bankruptcies in the food and beverage industries for The Deal. Rittenhouse has also worked at TheStreet.com as a consumer reporter.
Jake Sergent has launched Atmos, a magazine about climate change and culture. It is printed twice a year with each issue exploring a different element of our relationship to the Earth. The magazine is helmed by William Defebaugh who was tapped as editor in chief. Defebaugh was previously a senior features editor for L’Officiel USA and an editor at V Magazine before that.
Emma Fierberg has joined the CNBC Make It video team as a producer. She began her journalism career at Business Insider as a video production intern before moving up to video producer where she worked across the Business Insider, INSIDER and Tech Insider brands.
The Philadelphia Business Journal has hired Kevin Donahue as managing editor. Most recently he was a senior director of digital editorial operations at Rodale, and before that he worked as the senior managing editor for Men’s Health – a Rodale title – for nine years. Donahue has also worked as a director of site operations atPhilly.com from 1999 top 2007.
Dalton Barker will join Crain’s Chicago Business May 13 as a reporter on the media and marketing beat. In addition, he will cover products and bog food corporations, restaurants, beers and spirits, and retailing. Barker most recently reported on metals and manufacturing for Euromoney Institutional Investor and FastMarkets Ltd.
Two major magazines have announced that they will cease their print issues in the upcoming months:
· Money magazine will cease print publication and move to an online-only format in June. The monthly personal finance magazine is 47 years old and was acquired by Meredith Corp over a year ago.
· ESPN The Magazine will shut down its print version in September, but it may consider publishing print versions of special issues in the future. The magazine launched in 1998.
