Bloomberg Television in Beijing has welcomed Selina Wang as an anchor and reporter covering China's economy, markets, corporate giants and technology. She has relocated from Bloomberg News’ San Francisco offices, where she was a reporter since 2018. Wang will continue to write for Bloomberg News and Bloomberg Businessweek.
Morten Buttler will join Bloomberg News in Copenhagen as a reporter in August. He is currently wrapping up his duties as a correspondent for Børsen, the Danish newspaper specializing in business news. Before that, Buttler was a business reporter for Nordiske Medier A/S.
After more that five decades under the Condé Nast umbrella, Brides magazine has a new owner. The magazine has been purchased by Dotdash, a digital media company that operates as a subsidiary of IAC, owner of Tinder, Match and OKCupid. The new owners plan on shutting down all print operations of Brides and redesign Brides.com. The last print issue will come out in August/September in the U.S. and September/October in the U.K. Lisa Gooder, the magazine’s current executive director, will stay on in the new title of general manager, where she will continue to oversee the title’s strategy and content.
Matthew Arrojas is the new hospitality reporter for the South Florida Business Journal. He reports on hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tourism, trade groups, restaurants, retail, conventions and meetings, transportation, gambling and other attractions across the tri-county region. Arrojas is a recent graduate of the University of Florida, where he worked as a reporter, editor and digital producer for WUFT News. He also completed a stint as a Capitol correspondent covering the Florida Legislature.
Virginia Business has named Richard Foster editor in chief, effective May 28. He succeeds Robert Powell who has retired after a 43-year-journalism career, including nearly 15 years as Virginia Business’ editor. Foster is no stranger to the title, he spent more than 13 years contributing to the magazine. He was also the executive editor of Richmond magazine from 2001 – 2006.
The Chicago Sun-Times has made a couple of changes on its Sports Desk:
· Jason Liester now covers the NFL and the Chicago Bears football team. He most recently covered hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks and joined the Sun-Times in late 2018 after 12 years at the Palm Beach Post.
· Replacing Liester on the hockey/Blackhawks beat is Ben Pope, who joined the paper as a sports reporter. He was most recently an editor and reporter for The Daily Northwestern, the student newspaper of Northwestern University.
Politico’s popular Morning Media daily newsletter has ended as we know it. It will be still available for subscribers where Michael Calderone will write plenty throughout the 2020 election and beyond. Calderone will be focused on reporting media pieces for POLITICO, along with links to what he’s reading about the media.
Ray Hanania has joined Arab News as a social corresponded out of the U.S. He will continue his duties as the publisher and managing editor of the Arab Writers Group Syndicate where he also writes an opinion column. Arab News is an English-language daily newspaper published in Saudi Arabia. It was founded in 1975 and targets businessmen, executives and diplomats.
