The Washington Post has welcomed a tech reporter in Seattle, Washington, and has shifted coverage for one of its staff:
· Jay Greene has joined the Seattle, Washington, bureau as technology reporter covering the technology industry in the Northwest, including big tech like Microsoft and Amazon, as well as cloud-computing and automation. He was previously a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and before that spent three years as a business reporter for The Seattle Times.
· Amy B. Wang has changed coverage and has joined The Post’s National Politics team, covering 2020 presidential campaigns and elections with a focus on the Democrats. She was most recently on the General Assignment team mostly covering breaking news stories. Wang joined The Post in 2016 after seven years with the Arizona Republic.
Bob Bryan has been promoted to the newly created commentary editor position for Business Insider and Insider. He focuses on commentary and op-eds on policy, economics, politics, and business. Bryan has been on staff since 2017, when he joined as markets reporter.
Kathleen Hennessey has been named regional political editor for the Associated Press. She is based in Washington, D.C., and will assume her new role in June. Hennessey is currently the deputy bureau chief of newsgathering in the Washington bureau and has been with the AP since 2015. Prior to that, she spent four years at the Los Angeles Times as a White House correspondent.
The Wall Street Journal has hired Anne Michaud as an audience voices reporter. She comes from Newsday where she most recently wrote an op-ed column. Michaud has also previously covered politics for Crain’s New York Business and business news for the Los Angeles Times.
TIME magazine has recruited a news editor and a writer:
· Alex Rees has joined the magazine as news editor. He was most recently the deputy news editor at Cosmopolitan.com and before that worked for Buzzfeed as fashion editor and New York magazine as a fashion news editor.
· Lissandra Villahuerta has joined Time as a Washington, D.C.,-based staff writer covering politics. She was previously with BuzzFeed News, where she was a political reporter.
Vernon Loeb has joined InsideClimate News as senior editor for investigations, enterprise and innovations. He was most recently politics editor at The Atlantic, and before that spent four years at The Houston Chronicle as managing editor. Loeb is a veteran newspaper journalist and has also worked for the Washington Post as Metro editor, the Philadelphia Inquirer as deputy managing editor, and the Los Angeles Times as California investigations editor.
Nikkei Sian Review has brought on Yifan Yu as a San Francisco-based tech reporter covering Asian tech companies trying to compete with their U.S. counterparts in Silicon Valley. She was previously with Debtwire where she reported on finance, loans, high yield bonds and distressed credits. Yu has also previously worked for Dow Jones and the South China Morning Post.
Jackie Spinner has been named editor of Gateway Journalism Review, the newsletter and quarterly print magazine published by Southern Illinois University School of Journalism. Spinner is an associate professor of journalism at Columbia College Chicago and former correspondent for Columbia Journalism Review. She was also a staff writer and bureau chief for The Washington Post from 1995 to 2009.
