Emily Francher has been named assistant metro editor for the San Francisco Chronicle. She most recently served as the deputy managing editor for the San Francisco Business Times and has been with the publications since 2006 and before that had stints reporting for the San Francisco Examiner and San Mateo County Times.
Bloomberg Law has hired Roy Strom as a Chicago-based correspondent. He spent the last three years as a reporter for The National Law Journal where he covered wrote the column “The Law Firm Disrupted,” about how law firms and their business models have been affected by new technologies. Prior to that, Strom wrote for Chicago Lawyer Magazine.
Matt Bracken has joined Morning Consult as senior editor. He comes from Edelman, where he had been the deputy editorial director since 2017. Before that, Bracken spent seven years at The Baltimore Sun mostly on the sports team.
CNN Business has announced the addition of two new staff covering tech:
· Shannon Liao has joined as associate writer covering technology and general news. She comes form The Verge where she spent two years as a news writer. Before that, Liao was a reporter for The Epoch Times for seven years.
· Clare Duffy will join CNN Business on June 5 as a reporter covering the business of tech and big tech companies’ strategies. She was previously at the Portland Business Journal and covered Nike and e-gaming.
Janice Bitters is the new senior reporter for the San Jose Spotlight covering commercial real estate and city government. Most recently, she served as a commercial real estate reporter for Silicon Valley Business Journal and before that reported on regional planning and transit for Finance & Commerce.
Telemundo has recruited two correspondents for the network’s Miami and Los Angeles bureaus, respectively:
· Karla Amezola is the new Miami-based correspondent for Telemundo. She was previously an anchor/reporter for LBI Media for eight years.
· Guadalupe Venegas has re-joined the network as national correspondent in Los Angeles. She comes from KNSD3-TV where she spent the last two years as an anchor and before that spent four years at Telemundo.
South Dakota’s Rapid City Journal is set to launch a monthly business magazine titled Black Hills Business. It will highlight local leaders and economic development and growth in the area. The Journal’s Chris Huber is leaving his position as editor of the newspaper to become general manager of the new magazine. He has been with the Rapid City Journal for six years, and he has served as photographer, photo editor, managing editor and editor.
