Hilary Reid has joined The Strategist, the shopping vertical of New York magazine, as a writer. She was most recently a marketing associate for New York Review Books and freelancer. Reid has contributed art, fashion, and culture features to online and print publications including The New Yorker; T: The New York Times Style Magazine; The New York Times “Sunday Styles;” New York; Paris Review Daily; New Republic; ELLE; and Interview.
Consumer Reports has welcomed Jake Swearingen as technology reporter, effective May 28. He most recently spent three years as a tech writer for New York magazine, and previously worked as the website director for Popular Mechanics and as an associate editor for The Atlantic.
Haley Cawthon has joined Louisville Business First as a reporter and covers restaurants, retail, tech, and startups. She comes from the Kikomo Tribune in Indiana, where she spent two years as features editor. Before that, she was at the Mount Carmel Register in Illinois as chief staff writer.
The Associated Press has named James F. Martinez breaking news investigations editor and works on fast-breaking investigations that spin off from breaking news. Martinez has spent his entire journalism career at the AP and started back in 1986 as a Miami-based reporter. Since then, he has worked on the national news desk, as Oregon news editor, national deputy editor, and more. For the past seven years he served as AP’s New York news editor managing a team of reporters in the city and upstate.
Jeff Glor, the “CBS Evening News” anchor, has left the program. He has been the anchor of "Evening News" since 2017 and during that time secured an interview with Donald Trump. He will remain with CBS as a co-host of the “Morning Show Saturday.” Glor joined CBS News in 2007 and before that anchored for local stations in Boston and Syracuse, New York. Norah O’Donnell will take over as anchor of “CBS Evening News” this summer.
Reuters has brought on Kelsey Johnson as a reporter covering economy based in the Ottawa, Canada bureau. She was previously a columnist for Western Producer Media, and before that spent a year at iPolitics as parliamentary affairs reporter.
Rosie Spinks will join Skift in June as a London-based global tourism reporter. She will cover cruise lines, airbnb, mass tourism, gentrification, tourism marketing and responsible travel. Spinks was most recently a lifestyle reporter for Quartz out of the UK, and before that freelanced for six years, writing for UK and US publications including The Guardian, VICE, Quartz, NPR, Racked, The Wall Street Journal, among others.
CBS-owned WBBM-TV in Chicago has welcomed Tiffani Lupenski as director of content. She comes from KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri, where she served as the news director for two years. Before that, she worked in the same capacity at KGTV-TV in San Diego, California, and KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon.
Angie Fitzsimmons has joined KGGO-FM country radio in Los Angeles as the AM host, effective May 27. She is returning to radio after a brief hiatus to raise her family. Fitzsimmons was previously an executive producer for “The Carson Daily Show” and "The Adam Carolla Show.”
iHeartMedia’s KBKS-FM radio in Seattle has announced the appointment of Jared Fallon as program director, effective June 1. He comes from WIOQ-FM in Philadelphia where he has served as PD/afternoon host since March 2014. He also served as the program director and afternoon drive host for Kiss 107.1 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Z100 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin as well as operations manager for iHeartMedia Eau Claire and Wisconsin. He began his career at WAQE-FM.
