The Washington Post has announced the addition of several staff, all part of the Emerging News Products team and the new digital travel initiative:

·         Hannah Sampson has joined the Emerging News Products team as a staff writer for the new digital travel initiative. She comes from Skift where she spent the last four years as senior enterprise editor. Before that, Sampson spent nine years at The Miami Herald.

·         Dayana Sarkisova has joined the Emerging News Products team as deputy editor of the new digital travel initiative. She was most recently a deputy editor for Vox Media’s SB Nation, and prior to that was a senior editor at Pro Football Focus and an editor at ESPN Insider.

·         Monica Rodman has joined the video team and will be embedded with Emerging News Products as a video editor for the new digital travel initiative. She was most recently a freelance videographer for BuzzFeed and HelloGiggles. Before that, she was a video producer and editor at Pride Media, creating videos for The Advocate, Pride and Out. 

·         Natalie Compton has joined the Emerging News Products team as a staff writer for the new digital travel initiative. She was most recently a freelance writer and has written about travel and food for GQ, VICE, The Los Angeles Times, Playboy, Bon Appétit and Departures.

·         Marian Liu has joined the Audience team and is embedded with Emerging News Products as an operations editor for the new digital travel initiative. She comes from a Florida-based audio company, where she led communications and social media efforts. Before that she was a writer and editor at CNN and several newspapers, including the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Seattle Times and the San Jose Mercury News.

Jay Fielden has exited Hearst Magazines. He was the editor in chief of Esquire for the past three years and led Town & Country as editorial director.  He also served as editor in chief of T&C between 2011 and 2016. Before joining Hearst in 20011, Fielden was editor in chief of Men’s Vogue, closed in 2008.

The Baton Rouge Advocate has hired Kristen Mosbrucker as a reporter covering general business, economic development, research, technology, workforce development, the film industry, the petrochemical industry, port, insurance, healthcare and banking and transportation news. She was previously a reporter at the San Antonio Business Journal and covered tech, finance, and U.S. military operations in San Antonio.

Hannah Smoot will join The Charlotte Observer in July as a reporter covering healthcare, aviation and energy.  She is currently finishing up her duties as politics reporter at The Rock Hill Herald in South Carolina. She has also previously held positions at The Daily Tar Heel, the student newspaper of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

CBS-owned KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas, has shuffled its lineup and moved Russ Lewis as an anchor of the 4 p.m. newscast. He will co-anchor the news alongside Rekha Muddaraj and meteorologist Erika Lopez. Lewis will also occasionally anchor the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. He has been with the station since 2016, and before that spent more than 15 years as a morning news anchor at KGW-TV in Portland, Oregon.

Tim Hurley will join KKGO-FM country radio in Los Angeles as co-host of Mornings with Angie Fitzsimmons; he starts July 1. Hurley is a local singer-songwriter and was discovered singing Karaoke at a local bar in Playa del Rey, California.
