The Washington Post has announced the additions of two editors to the Emerging News Products team:

·         David Dombrowski has joined the team as a multiplatform editor focusing on The Washington Post Select app. He comes from The Blade in Toledo, Ohio, where he was a digital editor for toledoblade.com and its award-winning mobile app NewsSlide. Throughout his 20-year career Dombrowski has worked for the Wisconsin State Journal, Detroit Free Press and Asbury Press.

·         Michael King Jr. has joined the team as multiplatform editor also focusing on the Washington Post Select app. He was most recently a morning breaking news editor at Newsday and had been on staff for five years.

Eva Llorens-Velez has been recruited as senior reporter for Debtwire in San Juan, Puerto Rico, covering the debt restructuring of the territory. Llorens-Velez is a veteran journalist who has covered a variety of topics and has worked for the Associated Press, Florida Newspaper Network, San Juan Star, Puerto Rico Daily Sun, and others.

Bloomberg has expanded the area of coverage for wealth reporter Simone Foxman, who will now report from Qatar on everything from finance to energy to market moves and geopolitics. She joined the company in 2014 as an investing reporter from Absolute Return, where she spent less than a year as reporter. She has also reported for Business Insider and Quartz.  

Andrew Higgins has been named Moscow bureau chief for The New York Times. He spent the last three years as a foreign correspondent at the paper and was part of the team that won the Pulitzer in international reporting for coverage of Vladimir Putin’s efforts to spread Russian influence. Before joining The Times in 2012, Higgins was China bureau chief at The Washington Post, from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, he worked for The Wall Street Journal, as Moscow bureau chief, from 1998 to 2004, and as a senior correspondent based in Paris, from 2004 to 2009. 

The Daily Herald in Everett, Washington, has hired Phillip O'Connor as executive editor. He succeeds  Neal Pattison, who retired from the newsroom in April. O'Connor is a veteran journalist whose career spans 34 years during which he has covered school boards, city councils, courthouses, the World Series, NBA finals, earthquakes, tornadoes and war. Most recently, he directed news, enterprise and investigative teams at The Oklahoman, and has also worked for The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The Kansas City Star. 

Hearst Magazines have announced a couple of top publishing staff changes:

·         Kevin O’Malley, the longtime SVP, publishing director, and CRO of Elle and Marie Claire will retire effective August 15. He has been with Hearst since 2003 when he joined as VP and publisher of Esquire.

·         Carol A. Smith, the new SVP and publishing director of Harper’s Bazaar will add Elle and Marie Claire to her responsibilities after O’Malley’s departure. She has been VP, publisher, and CRO of Harper’s Bazaar since 2011.

KPWR-FM radio in Los Angeles has added three to Nick Cannon’s morning show:

·         Melissa Rios has joined the lineup as a co-host. She most recently did mornings at SBS Spanish contemporary KXOL-FM.

·         Teddy Mora has joined the team as a co-host. He most recently hosted Saturday nights at the station and began his career at KPWR as an intern.  

·         DJ Carisma has returned to KPWR as a co-host. She was most recently the music director for KRRL-FM in Los Angeles.
