CNBC’s “Make It” has promoted one and hired four additional new staffers:

·         Leah Ginsberg has been promoted to deputy managing editor, upped from senior editor. She has been with “Make It” since 2017 and before that spent a year at Forbes and the Women’s Digital Network as deputy editor. Ginsberg has also previously worked at Yahoo! and People magazine.

·         Allison Lau has joined the video team as a producer. Prior to CNBC, she was an associate producer at VICE Media, working on short and long form videos about women and LGBTQ+ communities. She has also previously held production roles at NYCity Lens and Conde Nast.

·         Alysha Webb has also joined the video team as a producer. She has previously worked for Hearst Digital Media in a variety of research and production roles for Real Simple Magazine, Grand Central Publishing, and

·         Maria LaMagna has joined “Make It” as an editor. Prior to CNBC, she was at where she began as a reporter focusing on credit cards, financial technology, payments and consumer debt. She later moved into a social media editor role at the publication. LaMagna began her journalism career at as a web and social media producer.

·         Jennifer Liu has joined the staff as a work reporter. Most recently, she worked at LearnVest, a site focused on financial education for consumers, where she wrote personal finance, lifestyle and career content.

Kaitlyn Tiffany will join the Tech desk of The Atlantic in September as a staff writer covering internet culture. She comes to The Atlantic from The Goods, at Vox, where she was a tech reporter reporting on consumer culture. Before joining Vox, Tiffany worked in audience development at Damn Joan and was a culture reporter at The Verge.

Hearst has named Michael Sacks publisher of the San Antonio Express-News. He succeeds Susan Pape, who will assume the role of chairman. Sacks will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the Express-News, as well as manage long-term strategic initiatives across its print and digital properties, including He was previously the senior vice president of operations for Hearst Newspapers and joined the company in 2012. Before that, Sacks held various roles at the Tribune Company and the Sun Sentinel in South Florida.


Josh Wolff has been named program director of Top 40 WAEB-FM and Rock WZZO-FM in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Wolff comes to Pennsylvania from Phoenix where he has served as the marketing director and assistant program director for KESZ-FM and KYOT-FM. He succeeds Derrick ‘DC’ Cole, who is moving to iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group as CHR Program Director.

WYMS-FM radio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has named Dori Zori assistant program director. She will also continue to host the station’s 6-10 a.m. morning show, which she has helmed since 2012. Zori is a 20-year non-commercial radio veteran.

Staples Inc. has launched Staples Worklife, a quarterly magazine that covers workplace issues and topics, as well as a range of other business and business technology topics. It also offers an online newsletter that provides content in between the quarterly issues. The new magazine made its debut with the Fall 2019 issue.

KPRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston, has announced two new anchor additions:

·         Taniya Wright has joined the news team Aug. 5 as a co-anchor on the morning news desk. She broadcasts alongside Owen Conflenti weekday mornings 4:30-7 a.m. and on the midday newscast weekdays 11 a.m.-noon co-anchoring with Andy Cerota.  Wright comes to Houston from Raleigh where she worked at the CBS affiliate, WNCN. Prior to WNCN, she was a morning and midday anchor at KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the midday and 5 p.m. anchor at WHAG in Hagerstown, Maryland.

·         Vanessa Richardson has joined KPRC-TV as a sports anchor/reporter. She was previously a reporter at WLWT in Cincinnati, Ohio, and before that served as an entertainment reporter for “The Bob and Tom Show” on WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis, Indiana.
