Shawn M. Carter has joined FOX News as a writer and producer. He comes from CNBC, where he spent the last two years as a staff writer. Prior to that he was the managing editor at O&P News and developed editorial content for print and online. Carter has also reported for MayoSeitz Media in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Chicago Public Media has announced the departure of Goli Sheikholeslami, who has been atop of WBEZ-AM Chicago Public Radio as a CEO for five years. She will assume a similar position at New York City’s public radio station in early October. Prior to arriving in Chicago in 2014, she worked as a strategic advisor for the European Voice, an executive at Everyday Health Inc., and served as a digital executive at the Washington Post for almost eight years.
The Indianapolis Star has hired Elizabeth DePompei as a digital multimedia reporter. She was most recently the digital editor at News & Tribune in Indiana where she wrote breaking news, general assignment and enterprise stories and led digital strategies. She had been on staff since 2015 and before that helmed the News Record, the student newspaper of the University of Cincinnati.
The Atlantic has added three to its newsroom leadership team:
· Ross Andersen will become a deputy editor for The Atlantic, with a focus on coverage of the sciences. Has has overseen The Atlantic’s Science, Technology, and Health sections since 2015, helping to open magazine’s San Francisco bureau in 2018.
· Caitlin Frazier is the new senior audience editor and has taken on a new strategic role on the audience and engagement team. She was most recently a senior editor and managed the audience team for four years. Frazier joined The Atlantic from the Center for American Progress where she served as a social media director.
· Yoni Appelbaum is now a deputy editor for the Ideas section and will oversee the expansion of the desk. He was most recently the editor of the section and has been on staff since 2015.
Spike Santee has joined All Access as a columnist writing a new weekly column titled “Lessons in Leadership” covering the radio industry. He comes from American Media Investments where he spent the last three years as a GM. He is also a veteran executive at Cumulus Media and had worked at various radio stations owned by the company since 2006.
theSkimm has recruited Cydney Adams is a producer. She was previously on staff at CBS News where she was most recently a producer working on various documentaries. She joined CBS News as a research associated in 2014. theSkimm is a daily e-newsletter covering current events, breaking news and politics, focusing on the most relevant headlines of the day.
Farah Jadran has joined WTVH-TV, the CBS station in Syracuse, New York, as an anchor. She anchors the morning and noon shows and takes over for Allison Bybee. Jadran was previously an anchor/reporter for WSYR-TV, the ABC station in Syracuse, New York, for four years and before that served as the managing editor for Syracuse Woman Magazine.
ABC-owned KTNV-TV in Las Vegas has brought on Jeremy Chen as a reporter. He comes from KESQ-TV in Thousand Palms, California where he spent three years as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor.
