Penske Media Corporation has named Tim Chan the first-ever lifestyle and market editor for Rolling Stone, a new role spanning coverage of fashion, technology, travel and consumer merchandise while also supporting the magazine’s Los Angeles-based news coverage. Chan was previously a managing editor at Penske Media and managed lifestyle and e-commerce content for Variety, Rolling Stone, SheKnows, StyleCaster, IndieWire, Footwear News and Before that, Chan consulted for the launch of Brother, a daily men's lifestyle channel on the Snapchat Discover Platform. 

Michelle Hackman, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal out of Washington, D.C., now covers immigration policy and enforcement. She was previously on the higher education beat and reported on national education policy, and the social, political and cultural forces shaping education in society. She has been with The Journal since 2016.

CNBC Digital has hired and promoted multiple staff at the organization’s headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, as well as the San Francisco and Singapore bureaus:

·         Al Lewis has joined as a markets editor based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. He was previously the business editor for the Houston Chronicle, overseeing a team of reporters covering energy, economics and finance. In his career of more than three decades, Lewis has been a columnist for The Wall Street Journal Sunday, MarketWatch, Dow Jones Newswires and The Denver Post. He also formerly served as business editor of The Denver Post.

·         Riya Bhattacharjee has joined the team as a hotseat editor in the San Francisco bureau. Previously, she was digital managing editor for NBC Bay Area in San Francisco where she managed a team of digital editors, producers and video journalists while overseeing breaking news coverage for NBC Bay and its social platforms. Before NBC, she was an editor and producer for MSN News at Microsoft, where she was part of its first team of reporters, writing about tech, business, national and world news.

·         Chris Eudaily has joined as news editor. For the last five years, he worked for the San Antonio Express-News, first as a producer before becoming director of digital audiences. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the strategy and operation for all Express-News free and subscriber digital channels.

·         Emma Newburger has joined the team as a general assignment and weekend associate reporter. Over the last year as a digital rotational program participant, she has written for CNBC’s politics team, the breaking news desk and CNBC Make It’s Closing the Gap vertical. Previously, she was a production intern for MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and a media relations intern for National Public Radio.

·         Kevin Stankiewicz has joined as an associate reporter on the embed team. Most recently, he was a reporter for The Columbus Dispatch, covering suburban government and K-12 education on the metro desk. He also interned at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and freelanced for Turner Sports and The Washington Post.

·         Nate Rattner has joins CNBC Digital as a data visualization journalist. He was most recently a content manager at SeatGeek, responsible for using the company’s internal ticketing data to produce stories and data visualizations about the live entertainment landscape. Before that, he worked at Print Syndicate, a startup in Columbus, Ohio.

·         Ashley Turner has joined the team as a social media producer. She began her CNBC career as an assignment desk intern in 2017 before moving to Digital where she participated in the CNBC Digital Rotational Program. She also held editorial internships at the Asbury Park Press and ABC News.

·         Andrew Evers has been promoted to producer for CNBC in San Francisco. He was previously an associate producer and has been on staff since 2017. Prior to that, Evers spent a year at TechnoBuffalo as a video director and creative director after that.

·         Magdalena Petrova has been promoted to digital producer and has relocated from the San Francisco bureau to CNBC’s headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. She was previously and associate producer and joined the staff in 2017 from IDG News Service.

·         Christine Wang has been promoted to Asia Pacific deputy editor and has relocated to CNBC’s Singapore bureau. She was most recently a news editor out of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and handled breaking news, and content for the launch of "Binge" with Carl Quintanilla, a series about the way media consumption is shaping the industry.

Aisha Harris has been promoted to op-ed culture editor at The New York Times, effective Sept. 23. She was most recently the assistant TV editor at The Times and has been with the paper since mid-2018. Prior to that, Harris spent six years at Slate where she was a culture writer and editor. She also hosted a podcast, “Represent,” on which she discussed inclusivity in film and television with the likes of Barry Jenkins and Greta Gerwig.
